PvP - 10 Adrenaline Packed Seconds: But... What Happened?

1-2secs When you interdicted me I was pleased to comply (first human interdiction)

3-4secs When I saw you were piloting another Asp I was pumped (a fair fight!)

5secs When you opened hostilities with a missile salvo I was nervous (80 Tons of mission-critical cargo on board - would my Point Defence work?)

6-9secs When I got you in my sights and squeezed the trigger for the first time I was elated (real player interaction! Here we go...)

And then...

10secs When you rammed me with virtually no shields left and just... blew up - I was bemused.

:(

Combat tactics working as intended?

I sat there in space for about 2 minutes after that. All alone. Wondering what had just happened...

QE

PS I think I have the name right - didn't really have much time for pleasantries... ;)

Might wanna censor the cmdr name out...
Not my intention to offend - I've certainly made worse mistakes...

At least his "what did I just do?" moment was in the heat of battle, rather than after deciding to play chicken with a station hub during a routine docking manoeuvre... (I won, honest - but the cowardly hub just couldn't get out of my way fast enou... *BOOM* )

PS Surname redacted, just in case. :)

I'm not the commander, and I can't speak for him, but I did just this early this morning.....

All I can say is it was not my intention and I was not happy. I had to call it a day having lost my ship only a short while before by crashing into the back of a spaceport having hit boost just before the letter box after being scanned.

Sometimes it's just not your day... ;)

I'll be back tomorrow. :)

Often times people get nervous during a pvp encounter and make mistakes. Are you sure he meant to ram you?

Maybe he was depressed and was looking for a way out. Could be a suicide run. Poor guy.

It's surprisingly easy to have an accidental collision I've found, but then each time it's happened I've been spinning around in close proximity to an enemy for nearly 10 minutes, so I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise!

As long as you aren't shaming, I'm fairly certain that the name is fine... you are simply looking for some interaction with him/her...

Ramming is fine, it happens by accident AND it's a valid tatic in combat.

You don't like it? Tough luck.

WW2 wasn't that long ago, and we have a lot of stories of allies and axis using ramming tatics to disable and destroy enemy equipment and vehicles, do you think the enemy would go like "YOU'RE A NUB FOR RAMMING ME INSTEAD OF SHOOTING ME" !?

Yep, interesting tactic of using missiles to disable shields and then ram them as your shields will protect you while the other shieldless ship will be destroyed. Useful for keeping weight and power usage down as no lasers are needed - just make sure that the bounty received will pay for the missiles used but this tactic isn't of much use for pirating.

Did you actually... uh... read the topic?

OP was saying that he was bemused that a guy in a ship with barely any shields left rammed him at full speed when his own ship was presumably well shielded. Thus the ship ramming him was destroyed and he was left mostly alive.

When in proximity did u make an evasion manuever or u head on him?
We were head-on at that point. Since I could see that my shields were still at 100% while his were on the point of going off-line, I assumed he would be the one trying to evade. Given that advantage, all I did was go full-reverse thrust to keep him in my line of fire for as long as possible.

Not at all sure! In the end I felt bad for him because I know what it's like to lose an expensive ship.

In the heat of the moment, would I have eased off the trigger instead of taking the killing shot once his hull was critical? Can't honestly answer that... ;)

Hey! I'm still alive!

[EDIT] Ninja'd!

Hey, SherlockS, all i said it's a valid tatic, was it used well? That's another story.

Perhaps it's you 2 who should learn to read, or get a lesson into understanding english :p
