PvP Elite Ranking (Same, same but different)

Sorry if it has been suggested before, bare with me, but I think this is different.

How about a separate ranking for PvP, probably replacing the CQC one. But... it is based on a ratio and... it degrades over time.

Have high end PvP focused ships only flyable at the highest ranks. Higher rank kills are worth more ranking. Lower rank kills are worth next to no ranking (maybe even minus points)

Result = PvP players have a reason to stay current and they encouraged to fight the best PvP'ers. They would deserve the best ships. Ganking would be pointless.

I don't think this would go over very well with the majority of the community.

The three main ranks in the game (Combat, Trade and Exploration) already have incredibly long, drawn out ranking requirements, so tying ship purchase/access to the higher Combat ranks is going to fly like a Lead Balloon with the community at large.

As far as I know, all but a handful of Apologists approve of the current ship access RANK WALLS that are contained in the Federal and Imperial Navies.

Even for someone like me who basically plays this game every single day... It has taken me 9 months to reach the Imperial rank of DUKE so I could finally buy the Imperial Cutter. (Over 2 years to hit Elite in Trade and Exploration... and I am still just at Dangerous in Combat)

The same tedious and frankly, BORING grind was required for me to buy my Corvette back when it first came out. (Although back then we had stations like "TUM" that spammed donation missions like a broken Slot machine.) ;)

Compare those 9 months to my 4.4 BILLION CR liquid/cash assets and you can see how unbalanced the ranking is with the CR earning in the game.

Nah... We don't need more grinds in ED. We need LESS!

No to more rank locked ships, thank you.

Well, that was just a bone to keep them interested. The main point is that it is a degrading rank that rewards PvP against higher ranked players and discourages attacks on lower ranked players. There would need to be an incentive to maintain the higher ranks though.
