Pvp - let people respond before attacking

Limpets work pretty great. Not sure why you think they don't.

thats easy, because turning your cargo hatch off stops them working, they are slower than every ship other than a T9, they are completely countered by one point defence, they won't even attach if you hold roll the whole time on some targets, and after all that they only spill like 8 cargo after 15s spread over a nice 3km of space.

Unless your flying a clipper or a cobra your chances of being blown up are 100% at the pirates discretion, fleeing straight away won't increase your chances particularly if your ships slower and masslocked you really can't compensate for that :p

If you're a new player to this game this may be true. Other than that any ship larger than a hauler kitted halfway defensively can escape any pirate in any ship 100% of the time...and immediately fleeing plays a large role in success, masslock doesn't matter...really all around bad info.

especially since mass lock doesn't affect high jumping.

Piracy as a legit role is stupid in the game. Nobody is going to wait after an interdiction to have a conversation. You choose to either immediately run or fight and the person who hesitates is usually the person who dies.

ideas have been suggested in the suggestion forum for how to make piracy legitimately possible without relying on the victum and pirate to play nice with eachother. Like most things, we dont know what FD will do to fix it. Until then, shoot first or run. Anything else is stupid.

Well my trader escape rate is a little more than 10%, I'm excluding combat loggers of course. So it seems not many people know how to properly kit their ship out, or know proper evasion techniques.

No. Humankind is generally good and you see other players in space and thank FD Open is working correctly. If Interdicted then you MUST scan else you are a fool unless ofcourse you are in a hurry. You may have found a Wing that may help you out and have a safer time out there.
I just killed my 1st Player. It was done in 3secs. His shields were at 75% but as I ran towards him he turned out to be WANTED. Too bad I could not turn away in time. I rammed him and collected 6200 thank you!
Is there a way of finding out the Bounty value on a player? I suppose it's in Contacts huh. I did not have enough time. He was under fire and needed errrr (help?) ooooops.

I do not mind pvp but would commanders please give us slow to type people a chance to respond to your threat before attacking.
I had just set course for a station and then noticed that someone sent me a message and by the time I read it and clicked to type the first character to respond I got interdicted and destroyed before I even picked up the controller again.
Could you please, if you are wanting to do pvp wait for a response before attacking especially since all you said was "leave this system" and I was trying to respond with "what system do you suggest I go to?", in order to get a dialogue going .Waiting such a short time is unreasonable as it doesn't give the player the time to select a new destination, never mind wait for the engine to spool up again. If you had scanned me you would have noticed that I didn't have weapons and was harmless, didn't have a bounty but did have a damaged ship and needed to go somewhere for repairs. I was carrying precious cargo so could have given you some if you let me pass.
I do not see the attraction people have in attacking defenceless craft. It is a bit like those kids that squash ants, there is only ever going to be one winner, its not a contest.
they are not required to wait for you to respond i suggest you play solo in open you require no reason to attack anyone or are you required to have a reason

Me, i generally just go for the player, but.... i don't generally kill tbh. If it's a trader for instance i'd let them limp home with minimal hull. Assuming i can keep up with them of course. The way i see it i'm at least slowing their trading, progression, powerplay moves etc and knocking their confidence, all whilst hopefully giving them a bit of excitement.

I generally find other more competent PVP players chat way way more than less competent types.

no it can't, outside of a clipper or a conda I don't think a traders ever gotten away from me :/ its easy if they are in a multi-role, its a joke if they are in a T6/7/9, I've let plenty go, but genuinely escaped? LOL Literally not possible for a majority

What I completely fail to understand is why people think that once the interdiction has begun, there is any chance of it still being a conversation. Someone pulls you out of SC you should deploy hardpoints immediately and kill them because otherwise you will die. How is this a difficult concept?

If you don't have any weapons then you've failed at Elite and should go play "Hello Kitty offline cuddly space adventure" or something.

Combat isn't mandatory, it's just another option.

Escape is a valid and practical tactic too.

There are plenty of people in unarmed ships doing just fine in ED.

What i agree with is, there's no reason to chat after an interdiction...fight or run.

Well here goes .....
.
I am starting to think some people bought the wrong game or at least shouldn't be playing this game. Right from the start, ED advertised that it had COMBAT, it had PVP, in fact I think they were pretty big selling points. But not only that, they also gave players an option of avoiding PVP by having Solo.
.
Yet people jump into Open, get their ship blown up and come running to the forum crying about it. Did they not understand what happens in Open, did they think at all? And what do they want now - they want everyone else to change the way they play just to pacify this small minority. According to them, if players don't engage in dialogue first, they are considered murders and psychopaths. How utterly ridiculous, it is a game, next thing they will want us to is have a version of the Geneva Convention or something.
.
It is simple, if the thought of some despicable player (playing the game well within the rules and playing his way) attacking you makes your knees weak and bladder full, go play Solo - just don't come in here whinging that you got killed by an NPC that didn't ask permission first!

To be fair, I've come across as many chivalrous dandies out there as I have 'killers'. Sometimes it's hard to get a decent pvp duel going without a lot of 'after you claude' politeness.
