PvP Pvp mouse vs flight stick

There is no way a flight stick user can compete agains a PA meta FDL. That seems kind of broken. The options should have alot more curves for fine tunning the flightstick. It is a pain to use fixed lasers and PAs with the flight stick in pvp. You can get away with it in pve where Npcs have the flight skill of an 8 year old but in pvp a mouse weilding Fdl pilot will walk all over you. What can be done about this? I don't want to fly using the mouse but i also want to be able to pvp. I have no idea how one could fix this so i am curious of what you guys think. I know these days its all about the Krait but what about these small things?

Ask for a gimbal area increase for fixed weapons using a joystick.
Use gimballed weapons and outmaneuver face tankers.
Something like that?

Meta FDLs (or the FDL itself) have been OP ever since the ship got its stupid buff of better agility, heat management and a powerplant upgrade. It was fine and balanced and since years it is the best combat ship in the game.

However, you can counter it pretty good using long range PAs and the noob weapon seeker missiles. None of them runs MRPs so once you get their shields down (which is the easy part) you need to punish them for having nothing but agility as their defenses and use your seekers to cripple anything their shields would have protected and your long range PAs to finish them off or watch them wake out.

That is not an option. It should be a level play field. I dont want to be forced to play mouse just to be competitive. That's not cool.

Yes, it is an option. There are some inputs that are more suited than others. It is your responsibility to setup your computer in a way you can handle the game.

Don't expect Frontier to fix your shortcomings.

Hitting a 500+/mps Fdl with PAs its a no ho with a flight stick. Been playing the game since alpha and i know how to fly the stick but its almost not doable. Maybe some lucky shots but not enough to do damage. Also lining up shots while using stick just murderes your evasive flying. It is a big problem and nobody is talking about it.

This is just how things are. In FPS games, if two people have the same level of skill, the one playing with a mouse and keyboard is going to dominate the one playing with a gamepad. Same with a flight or space sim with fixed guns - the accuracy of a mouse, which you can finely control using just your fingers, just can't be beat by a joystick that you control with your wrist and arm. Your options are to use a mouse, use gimbals or practice until you're good enough that the handicap of using a joystick doesn't affect you.

What format? Joystickcurves on PC does what you ask. If not available then try a less agile ship & make the most of more tankiness & firepower. Adjust your build to suit your control system, perhaps dont use a kb&m build-meta with the wrong control system. fixed weapons are perfectly usable with a half-decent hotas. Experiment for yourself with an open mind & find what works for your unique circumstances. Maybe in the end, just accept that top-tier isnt achievable. (just as is the case for the vast majority of kb&m users)
If the feel & QoL that hotas brings is worth that potential sacrifice, then console yourself that at least for you there are more than a few dozen players out there that can actually provide a decent challenge. It's lonely at the top, afterall :p

I think you are wrong. Already pvp is separated from pve using builds. Now its separated by control input. That is just bad game design. I play For Honor wich is very competitive. Both input methods work amazing. Mouse can be competitive against joystick and also the other way around.

Like i sad its just bad game design. I should not have to use 3rd party software to make the input method competitive. What about people that play in Vr? Mouse and Vr are a no go. Like i said i am limited by the control method in a game that is best "felt" with a flight stick. Its a ship...you dont fly it with a mouse and keyboard

I agree.
This game is designed around the premise that the players would be using a J stick primarily other options where added in case the players didn't have a J stick.
The character in game uses a J stick some J sticks where created for this game.
And yet the most precise method is a mouse and keyboard. Because the Developers cant be bothered to add more precise control settings and options into the game for J stick.

I do not think MnK should be nerfed, Jstick controls should be improved.

Curves settings ingame which can be Hot Swapped. On all available Axis and Pov axis, and for thrust sliders and pedals. would be a step in the right direction.
If EDs competitor can add Curves control options as a default, surely Fdev could do the same or maybe ask them how they did it, if it proves to difficult for them.

Finally. Thank you.

Nope, it isn't.

You are using a suboptimal setup and expect Frontier to do something about it. What should they do? Add an "I win" button for joystick users?

People in VR don't have access to forums, chats, inflight entertainment etc. either

You are not "limited" by a control method, you can do whatever you want.

Might want to do some reaserch about Vr and what people that play in Vr have or don't have. This thing alone makes everything else you said invalid...you mouse player you :)

Also you might want to read the actual posts in this thread. There are things that can be done.

I'm playing with a Gamepad + Keyboard.

I also have VR (HTC Vive) but opted to play on my 4k screen, with my other two 2k screens for support and entertainment.
Anyway, I answered your question. If you find the answer "invalid", you're free to figure out something else to "git gud" in PvP.

The point was about options to fine tune the flight stick. Also using "git gud" really tells me something. Also you could have used "screens" without the 4k mention. Its not nice to brag

A very good (actually a top tier PvP player, not gonna name him) told me that using a stick doesn't put you at disadvantage at all. You only think it is more difficult because you're not getting the results you are expecting as quick as you think they should come.

I know it, since I've been at the exact same spot you are right now: wanting to get into serious PvP but afraid your hardware is as fault of you getting run over most of the time.

I play full FA-off with a T16000M and a keypad, flying a Vulture with Pacifiers

And seriously, I don't feel at disadvantage at all. It's only a matter of practice and getting used to it.

git gud or get rekt :p

^just kidding, If you want to get results, there is no way around practicing and getting used to your hardware and your ship as well as your loadout. there is no plug'n play option to be efficient in PvP in Elite Dangerous.

Keep practicing and you'll get there.

I find multi-cannons to be hard with my hotas, because it requires a lot of time on target. Lasers can be tricky on smaller ships, but PA, rails etc. are manageable. My advice is to use a mix of both fixed and gimballed weapons on a hotas. That's what I do.

I dont wanna come across as nasty but i higly doubt it. I am no scrub. Been here since the alpha. Flight sticks cant take on mouse and keyboard. All we need is some dine tuning options and the ability to change on the fly.
