PvP PvP Practice

Hello! Does anyone know of any groups or clubs that would help with practice fights? Im New to elite but have always avoided combat. NPCs are one thing but playing against another player would be a much better learning curve. Recently bought the FGS and want to try it out in practice (say first to 20% hull loses)

Thanks in advance

Look in Dangerous Groups for people to spar with or any number of player groups on Inara organize regular PvP training events.

1. Pass and go
2. retract HP when done
3. GG over comms

What system are you on? If you're on xbox, myself and my crew DRTY Co would love to take you under our wing.
There's also a guy on here named Cknarf that puts together unengineered, small ship pvp battle every Wednesday to give new players a chance to practice PvP.

Hang out in system called San Tu. Its well known PVP hub, but make sure you have decent ship first and couple of rebuys ready as well, if you would wanna hang out at this place.

Not sure if you can find unengineered PVP by much at this place, most of folks if not all, thier ships have been maxed out.

I still think they should integrate arena into the main game where you can go to arenas at certain stations and challenge who ever is there for fun/ credits/ships etc.

There could be leagues and championships with prizes.

Or even a type of rocket league with ships instead.

So much potential....

Lost the Internet connection for a few moments while I was typing a reply. See the next post.

Greetings,

Inara has many. Get on the Discord channels with live communications using a headset there are many more.

If your desire is to succeed in the ultimate ED PvP combat there are lots of players waiting to train you. But like any goal in life you will have to make the decision to go all the way and dedicated to a goal. Even then you might fail with very experienced players waiting for you to show up. At this combat level there is no easy path to success. Do it or don't. Totally up to you.

Reminds me of the movie, "Men of Honor" (c2000). Do you have this dedication?

"The Navy Diver is not a fighting man, he is a salvage expert. If it is lost underwater, he finds it. If it's sunk, he brings it up. If it's in the way, he moves it. If he's lucky, he will die young, 200 feet beneath the waves, for that is the closest he'll ever get to being a hero. Hell, I don't know why anybody would want to be a Navy Diver."

Regards

Fly to San Tu. Wait for some CMDRs to turn up and talk to them... they will give you a link to the PvP Hub discord, and shoot at you, give you tips etc... Or search on this forum for the Git Gud School or the Galactic Combat Initiative discords... Or indeed join any of the PowerPlay discords... Most of the communities use discord as an community organisation tool, and it does voice chat too. There is a link on this forum somewhere listing a lot of the discords available.

oh, and a gunship, while fun, is probably not the best starter PvP ship. too slow. Viper 4 is a good ship to learn in - cheap rebuy, good hard point placements, can have good hull, and its quite difficult to hit, so will help with your evasion. Or Vulture, or viper 3, etc. Go to a combat community goal and you'll get plenty of practice and find lots of gankers actually are happy to give you tips if you talk to them nicely, and want to learn.

Be prepared to die a lot. Its only a rebuy. you learn each time.

This is a great point! Unless you have billions or hundreds of millions to spare, start your pvp training with a small ship where the rebuys are relatively painless like a Viper.

Pile on for the suggestion to use a viper for training. Fast, fun, decent dps for a small ship and cheap rebuys as the main reason. You will die a lot! Even if hull 20% is decided sometimes that last hit takes you out anyway.

Come to the CG in open. Plenty of 1v1 available. Just text to local asking for 1v1 while in SC or at the station.

Not sure what system you're on OP, but as Birdman mentioned, I generally get people together to fight on Wednesday evenings. We do mostly stock stuff, especially if there's new people who are just starting out, but engineered ships come out too. It's kind of a 'bring what you have' sort of thing.

We are Xbox based, and a link to the Discord is in my signature here.

There is also an event this Saturday in San Tu,Hosted by Newton's Fusiliers, one of the more prominent PvP factions on Xbox. Drop by if you can, we'll find you some fights.

Wait. Did you mean fight for new ships or winner takes the loser's ship? Like fighting for slips? That would be interesting...
