PvP video log

Greeting Commanders,

This thread is for people to post pvp video links!

My first contribution to the thread is 2 rounds of 1v1 action of myself in a vulture versus CMDR MAXIMUMHIGH also in a vulture.

Please note if your sound is out of sync follow the instructions given in the first minute of this video. This works for the second vid the first one still has an audio sync issue. Any help with this is much appreciated.

Fight 1

CMDR MAXIMUMHIGH employs good use of ramming combined with a plasma accelerator. In this fight i was using fixed pulses. This is difficult becuase to score hits you have to be directly facing ur opponent and well that lines me up for the plasma accelerator. Still it was a good fight. i think i would have done better if the police were not shooting at me as well...

Fight 2

I swap out my fixed pulses for the gimballed version. allowing me more time on target, and allowing me to maneuvre wihtout lining myself up to get a faceload of plasma. Its a bit cheeky and requires far less skill but MAXIMUMHIGH agreed to it so what the hell. In my defence, chaff would have ruined my day.

I didn't see much of any vertical/lateral thruster control at all in your videos, and only minimal throttle adjustments. You should definitely work thrusters into your control scheme, even if it's on the keyboard and you have to pulse them with keytaps. Pure rotational control with no thruster use won't get you very far against more experienced pilots.

Regardless, always interesting to see what mouse and keyboard users are doing.

A couple of my own Vulture videos (should have 1440p options):

usually when i turn up or down i assist with vertical thrust (R and F keys for me) i didnt know u had to pulse it tho. ty

also what are you using to record your vids?

also wow nice vid. that vulture your fighting in the first one had some tank.

Na, just unlock the target and your gimbals become fixed.

yes but if u read the post, i didnt want to line up with him becuase of the pa to the face

Sure, I understood. As Morbad indicated: thrusters. The use of thrusters should allow you to strafe/slip if you want to engage in high speed head-on passes (and dodge the PA fire). And that same use of thrusters can also get you on his tail. He doesn't have a PA back there. :)

doesnt he get a leading reticule? if so id still have to change direction just as he fires. but yeah i can see your point.

Yes, he does. But, it doesn't tell him which way you're actually translating.. it just gives him your current predicted trajectory I believe. However, I'd still like to try the non-frontal attack personally and stay away from that PA altogether.

OBS

it just gives him your current predicted trajectory I believe.

It gives him the location he needs to fire at if you maintain your current speed and direction. You have to compensate further for any other manuvering, and at longer distances this becomes harder as well as gives the target more time to adjust in flight.

It's why the weapon is generally crap at long range, or against small/fast targets.

I'm surprised we don't see more burst lasers on Vulture loadouts. I loved them on mine but ended up switching them out for pulse due to power considerations and trying to run various scanners and not needing the burst damage for PVE. But for a purely aggressive build or as a PVP loadout I think they would be a superior choice for the Vulture vs pulse. In the second battle in kingchub's post, they would be particularly effective as he never really had weps power issues and often had only a second or so where he could do damage. He would have been better to land a few burst laser shots instead of a few pulse.
I'm not complaining or critisizing here, I'm just theroycrafting, they were good fights.

many thanks, and i do appreciate constructive critisism. i tried fitting burst lasers but as u said they draw too much power which could be used for other things.

Here is a video of an awesome fight between my eagle and a viper. I was really surprised by the viper CMDR he was rated novice yet was using fixed beams with gimballed multicannons and - obviously knowing a few tricks - managed to stay on my eagle most of the fight.

do u have any issues with audio syncing using obs?

No. Any pure OBS stream I upload has well sycned audio. Sometimes transcodes/cuts need to be adjust depending on what I'm using to make them, however.

He could easily have reset his account at some point in the past, or simply had a fair portion of his combat experience against other players. That said, you drove him off with an Eagle, so Novice sounds about right for the later, nevermind the fact that there are some Elite's who would have done worse.

maybe, but speaking to him after the fight he said that he didn't reset. also yes i was in an eagle but hes the first viper i've come across that's even dropped my shields 1v1.

wish i'd known about obs before i bought fraps. oh well
