Python Cargo scoop

The cargo scoop on the python seems not aligned with the rectangular box window

if you keep the target cargo in the mid of the crosshair you can be sure some other part of the ship will hit it, either moving it away or destroying

it is extremely tedious to go at 3 m/s speed and guesstimate the right angle to scoop (i have good results by keeping it in the lower quadrant, aligned with the mid line and keeping this one above it)

it is quite gamebreaking on a ship that should excel at piracy, so much I am back in the Cobra which is a gem

Yeah true that, i tried the adder when it first came out as i wanted to make it my mining ship but the scoop problem drove me mad

i suspect this is an overlooked design implementation --it could be possible that scoop box is designed for starter ship and they did not thought of adjusting for later ships

If it's a consistent issue I would raise a ticket (then maybe it'll be fixed by the time I get a Python :)

Sad to hear, well i guess pirating in the python isnt that profitable anyways.

Raised a ticket for this one. Been flying the python for a few weeks now and have given up on scooping anything with it for now.

My Adder did the same thing, but once you learn how to do it right, it gets easier. I have to put the crosshairs a little above the target and let it get under my ship, then I move it back to the center and it goes right in.

Well that might be the consensus in how to operate the defective scoop, and I agree

however is just a partial solution and does not solve an inherent defect in the mechanic

python and adder pilots should not be penalized due to some oversights from the ship dev team

I agree. It's a pain having to do it that way...but at least it works for now.

sorry for necro but this needs to be fixed, scoopings bad enough at 30m/s having to go 2m/s feels like tedium punishment Its the only bug so far thats got me properly annoyed especially when I see this was an issue in gamma as well... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU SCOOOOOOOOOP

If there is no such thing as a tractor beam in the game....how do the 'looking for luxury' guys manage to magic your cargo from your hull?

Very good point and I too have noticed that it's almost impossible to scoop cargo in a Python so this needs to be fixed, either by lowering the cargo tracker or better yet to add a tractor beam for large ships.

Scooping with a Python, while not easy, is quite doable.

The secret is your speed. First, line up and get your cargo dead center left to right on the target and then get it just below center on the up and down. Reduce your speed to 6. As you approach, you need to use your up and down thrusters to adjust once you get to 0 and past.

Difficult to explain, but cargo scooping in the Python is the exact same difficulty as scooping in the Anaconda. This is because the scoop is actually behind the targeting sensor which is why controls reverse when it comes really close.

Just gonna post some advice here as somebody convinced me to stick at it and its pretty good now - aim above the target until 50m like cleary above but keep it just in view at the bottom, then point it so its just touching the horizontal line and head straight into it. As i'm sure this become a more common issue in time I've uploaded a vid real quick to demonstrate for anyone struggling like I was, will edit in soon as its uploaded.

Edit: Video now up, hope it helps!

Target scooping in the python is different but possible.

Dont try and scoop close range or at slow speed 15-20 is a good speed to scoop at and just slightly below centre seems best
