Python combat outfitting

Hello all,
Not played the game in a very long time and notice some changes so I'm here asking what good combat outfitting do you guys have for a python?
Its my first time with this ship so any help would be appreciated.
I have tried Google and YouTube but they are all a few years old now.

Many thanks.

Depends on what you like.
But given the hardpoints placement for Python, i usually go for 4 efficient beams top and a corrosive multi-cannon under nose.
You can also go full multi-cannons - keeping the corrosive under nose and goin incendiary for tops ones

Edit however, i dont do much combat in Pythons - they're usually cargo haulers or doing sightseeing missions.
Combat is better done on Krait Mk2 - mucb better placement for weapons and generally a better ship for combat since she can fit a SLF too

2 gimbal 3C efficient beam lasers (one under the chin)

1 gimbal 2D overcharged beam laser (flow control)

1 gimbal 3C multicannon overcharged (autoloader)

1 gimbal 2F multicannon high capacity, (corrosive shell)

Takes care of just about anything in PvE - would never* do PvP in a Python.

* (not that I ever do PvP anyway - I am pants at fighting)

Edited to 2F multi (I was sure it was 2D but Coriolis says not  seems there is not any "D" multi at all ) - BTW High Capacity mod 'cos corrosive shell has lower ammo count

Here's my Python build. It's a Focused PA + Lasers (for removing shields and doing further damage) coupled with two MCs to make quick work of NPCs. This is a PvE vessel. This is my through-and-through multi-role armed trader / armed mission-runner but I find myself in RES combat and CZ combat all the time because I'm too lazy to go get another ship. It performs admirably, as Pythons tend to do. Could this do better? Sure. But it's important to define what "better" is. One example (especially in combat) is that I could change to long-range sensors, rather than wide-angle. I prefer wide-angle for the other roles so I keep it
A build is really a personal thing that reflects a player's preferred mode of play in a given role (or roles, as in my case).

One of the things I like about this ship is that you simply don't need to avoid everything that opponents throw at it. It has the muscle to press on, shield regen is quick enough to outlast shield-loss unless you're over zealous. I have come to know NPC opponents quite well so I use that knowledge to my advantage during encounters with adversaries.

I have often wondered how it would do if I were to equip it as a dedicated combat vessel (lose the cargo, etc. for more brick & blunt - if you know what I mean).

I am at home in this ship; you'll find me in it 98+% of the time I am in-game. Due thanks in advance to good intentions but I'm not looking to dilute this thread with advice about this particular build (not for me anyway). I still 'adjust' here and there once in a while. * I do not disagree with advice of others given here, and I agree that this is not a PvP vessel.

Have fun out there, CMDR. If you want to fly Pythons together and if time allows (mostly time zone), I'm game! :) o7!

* in particular, I may have to try the high capacity mod on one of the MCs. That could be nice. Thanks, CMDR!

All frags is a good build , but generally use the mediums for lasers and the larges for kinetics . Have a look at the krait MK2 builds , basically the same ship fully engineered with a few small differences . I'm playing with the salvation guardian weapons and enjoying them .

I really like the Python as a multi-role, I tend to prefer other ships for dedicated combat. It's a ship that needs to be managed, rewarding good practice & punishing poor technique so managing pips is important, timing boosts and getting speed into the blue zone to get a good turn rate.

I have had great success with a fixed long range C3 Beam laser under the nose. It uses a lot of power but will attract the attention of NPCs up to 6km away & I can be doing meaningful damage for several seconds even with only 1-2 pips in wep as they approach then once they are close (really close, within a few hundred metres) tear them apart with 4x overcharged gimbaled frags. I have screening shell on the two C3s, incendiary on one C2 and corrosive on the other C2.

As others have mentioned the Krait MkII has a very similar specification, it's an easier ship to fly but the optional modules are a little less flexible than the Python. If you can afford both hulls you can transfer most modules from one to the other to see which you prefer for the use you put it to.
