Python or Anaconda multipurpose for imp rep grind?

Ranking is a slow process. And yes, as others have said, the Python is the workhorse, because it allows you to deliver to outposts, and a lot of the missions you do for rep go to outposts (data delivery, etc.)

I have both a Corvette and a Cutter so I know how the ranking up thing goes.

I have a video that shows how I did my Federation ranking -- it outlines a straight-forward method for getting it done. Maybe not the fastest way, but it worked. For Empire you'd do the same thing, but in another system like Wu Guinagi or such.

I'll post the video here in case you find it helpful.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Nice that you made a video with pro tips, maybe you'll make one for the Empire as well one day :p . I will check out Wu Guinagi

@Senelero Can't really go back to T6 anymore. I used it a lot in the past to get to the Python, and its a good ship, but not in the mood to use it anymore. Good luck!

I ground out my Imperial rep at Aditi over a week or so. I started with an Asp explorer and it was probably faster for rep grind but I ended up using my unarmed D-spec Anaconda. It was just too tempting to load up on the choicest of long range missions while doing Data/Donation. This left me with a lazy billion to A-spec one cutter and buy another for trade.

Between those two, Python for sure! In my opinion, it's the best overall ship in the game as it has generous cargo space, great firepower ... and it can land on medium pads which is absolutely gold for mission running and rep grinding.

Personally, though, I'm using an enhanced performance drive equipped Imperial Courier to do imperial courier missions in Wu Guinagi. Nothing beats it's speed and agility for these short range cargo-less missions. :)

I will say if you're doing the data runs with Wu Guinagi that you should remember to dump your engineer rewards at each stop. Forgetting the rewards and having them in your hold is a recipe for pirates. I know this because I had a really annoying experience with two pirates in one system chain interdicting me until I high waked, and then following me at Wu Guinagi.

If you're going to grind those data missions, I'd recommend a Courier, stripped with high performance thrusters. get about 600m/s boosted and landing and taking off. Becomes a lot quicker and more fun.

I've never been able to come up with a comfortable Anaconda build (with a decent jump range) that's anywhere near as effective as my Python.

Even with an A-grade (un-engineered of course) FSD, I've always had a better jump distance/armouring/cargo ratio in the Python. But I might value jump distance too highly.

making around 15-20m more a trip from sothis in my conda then i did in my python, also have cut trip time down a hell of a lot so i am able to run more trips. This is in a haul and brawl type build so jump rangle is round 35 unladen 25 laden.

I'm currently grinding Empire rep in Wu Guinagi in a Python. It's good to have some cargo space and do the transport missions too, as they pay nicer than only data missions. It's also safer than some other medium ships for the rare interdiction.

About donation missions... my experience yesterday was different from what's been said here. I did some 1.000.000cr donation missions, and I have the feeling they upped the % by 1% each (sometimes not a full 1%, but very close). Lesser donation missions and data missions do not get anywhere close to a 1% per mission. All in all, I spent around 4 hours grinding rep and went from 60% Count to 42% Earl, and I have the feeling that big donations helped quite a bit to speed up the process.

It would be great if some other volunteer commanders were able to test it too. I'll do more test tonight taking notes to see if it's a fact or just wild imagination.

I know someone who had no rank with the Empire. Typical data delivery and cargo delivery netted him a 3-7% increase, depending on the payout. He later found a 350,000 credit donation mission. When he took it, his rank % jumped up by 13. The double take on his face was priceless. A later 25,000 credit donation mission did only 2% rank increase, so donation missions, especially the large ones, give much more rank. I recall a 2,000,000 credit one I found that increased my rank by 4%, even though I was already at Lord.
Hope that helps.:)

Repped! Thanks for the confirmation!

I was under that same impression, so it's time to burn all the CG cash we've earned this week :)

Thought about switching to Python as well since my lovely Anaconda can't go to outposts (Been getting a lot of "Ship Too Large" warnings AND I'm unarmed).

Any good suggestions on loadout?

I just did mine in an Asp. Python would be better than the Anaconda since it can dock at outposts.

Word to the wise about the Imperial Cutter. She's an awesome ship, but you NEED G5 Dirty Drives and the charge enhanced power distro asap.

I've parked the Annie too for the rep grind, and I like fliying in the Python again. Mine is currently configured for multipurpose combat-missions, without the scoop and scanners as there is no need for them while rank grinding.

I have C5 engineered FSD, C3 engines and shield, and C1/C2 most of the rest. It's a very capable ship right now, able to take on Elite Anacondas if flown right. The turrets strip shields while turning to face your enemy, and once he's shieldless, the 3MC finish him fast. Your only problems are elite pilots, as they tend to have and use shield cells, and those two turrets may take their time stripping recharging shields. On those you need to use the cannons for faster shield draining.

I'm lost with all that Engineer stuff. I've not really used them a whole lot. I did one minor upgrade to my Anaconda FSD for a near 40Ly jump.

And one other thing about the Python, the jump range absolutely hurts (I don't have a whole lot of free time while I'm here). I'm thinking that with that thing fully loaded with cargo will get about 15 or so, which hurts when doing long range deliveries. Something my Anaconda shines in with 300+ tons of cargo and 25+Ly jump range. Only issue is it can't defend itself...

If you know of a good alternative or what Engineer upgrades are needed (Which sucks since I don't have the time to go scavenger hunting for materials), that would be appreciated.

My advice is that you should get the mats for the C5 FSD. It's one of the easiest class 5 mods, just doing missions will get you most of the things needed eventually, and there are a couple engineers capable for that modification. I've been very lucky on the Python, and got a 47% increase on the first try. It's capable of jumping 26,8LY fully loaded with 196 tons, just 2LY less than the Annie.

Good luck commander!

In order to get that though, I need the materials do the lower classes first. Making the trip out there in a Python is hard enough. But then having to go looking out and about for them. Last I checked, both FSD engineers aren't exalt close to Empire space; but that was a while ago.
