Python "Real" Pirate build suggestions

Greetings CMDRs!

I always thought of the python as my favorite ship to pirate with, because how it looks and the plenty of option it brings as modules numbers and sizes. Real pirating has always been a very appealing profession.

But i at the end never bought it because there was a major flaw with that idea, and that was the fact that during pre-engineers times, any potential victim would most probably able to out run me. So i left this idea behind until the coming of the engineers and the possibility to make this ship much faster and agile.

So I finally decided to buy the ship and try it as such. That is why i am making this thread to ask for suggestion with people with experience with t he Python that might have used it as a pirate platform. Engineer mods suggestions are also appreciated :)

Please have in mind that what the main focus for this build would have to be fast to chase down victims and escape unwanted combat, get the wanted cargo efficiently, weapons more orientated toward disabling my victims ships and not destroy them, and for the most part trying to avoid combat against well prepared ships.
In other words, the ship should be a pirate ship with some teeth but not a combat ship!

Thanks a lot in advances

If you mean PvP piracy, then forget it unless you're going after dedicated trading ships.

If you are only going after dedicated trading ships (Lakon), then make a check list for yourself.

1. G5 Dirty Drive, there is no arguing with this since speed is one of the essentials to piracy.

2. Containment missile, at this point most people know what high waking is, so I would say it's pretty important.

3. Have enough fire power to take shield down and disable modules (for drives, packhound, for powerplant, super penetrator railgun. This is in case your victim isn't compliant. If you are extracting only a small amount of cargo, then just hatch break.

Just to give you an idea.

If PvE piracy, then whatever you do will probably be fine.

A good bedside manner and a few witty lines to throw out.

The only pirates I've given cargo too are the nice ones ;)

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. :)

And it would be for PVP, always PVP piracy :). Against NPCs is rather boring in my opinion.
I am no new to real PVP piracy, but it has been a long time since then, and as i said i havent used the Python not only for this role, but at all. That is why i was asking specifics about this ship if possible :p

Also part of my motivations in general for anything i do in game is a mix of doing it for fun/for the challenge and some level of Role playing , so many times i am not using the best of the best or most efficient even if i could. Just to give you an example i have bee flying for a long time now mainly in an asp scout :p But sorry i am going off topic here...

I was wondering if weapons with the special effect for modules malfunctions are reliable at all or not for this job.

Thanks again for the help.

Tanks again for the help.

Good good, it's good to see another fellow PvP pirate. I edited a link into the post you replied to, it'll give you a basic idea of what is preferred as a base on Python for piracy.

If you're flying a Vette/Conda/Cutter, I would be surprised if anyone can pirate you solo.

I was in an unarmed "mission" Python recently in Open and got Pirated by a CMDR. My Py has g5 DD's, Reinforced shield etc. But he was so nice that I "lent" him some Palladium.

We conversed afterwards and it turned out I had at least 40 mps on his Python!
