In search of (RIP Nimoy) variation of game play, I created a Python Taco Wagon. Others have undoubtedly done the same without mentioning it (or maybe they have) but here's what that consists of:
1 Python outfitted for trading (ok to sacrifice some cargo hold for other goodies).
2. One extra fuel tank (to avoid scooping)
3. a set number of everything you can find, but not everything from the same system or station (if that makes sense, often hard to get rid of some things)
Fill your Python with the selection of goodies, head out into space and hit stations to see who needs what. Lately not finding any "goods needed" stuff, but I used to. You can just unload there, make a tidy profit on them (and dump the remainder often at a profit) and then collect what that station sells to refill you hold. I gain rep and new missions that might allow me to just hit the next station with a delivery I was going to make anyhow.
It's risky, and if you change desires at a whim, you'll likely take a loss when you just decide to dump it all at some station and trade for Cr or outfit for battle. However it's interesting, my Taco Wagon. I just need some Ice Cream truck music.
