Python trade up for Anaconda?

I have a dilemma? Should I trade my Python for an Anaconda ? I have about 100 mill and my Python is worth 100 mill but doesn't leave me much for refits Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I've just gone back down from the Conda to the Python. You get a lot more mission choice because of the outpost thing, and it's a bit more fun to fly. I'll go back to the Conda at some point, when I'm a zillionaire, and can A rate and Military armour the bad boy, but not for a few months (years) I think.

Agree, keep the Python.
Anaconda can carry a lot more but it's very expensive to fit out and not as fun to fly. I only use it in cargo CGs, altho might take it on a big explore when we have SRVs.

I disagree with everyone. A trade 'Conda will cost about 160m on discount, and then the money can start pouring in

Do you like your ship being able to
  1. turn?
  2. land at outposts?
  3. run away if overpowered?

If so, you probably want to keep your Python.

If you just want a cargo carrying brick, then get the 'Conda, but at the very least save for some rebuys first.

With the python you can get those nice 500k - 1 mill illegal hauling missions on outposts that spawn everywhere now and then occasionally.

Anaconda can haul 460 tons of cargo, but can't do anything els without upgrading.. its a win win.. do what you you like to do, can't go really wrong here.

Though me personally, would keep the python for now because i like doing missions..

I love my Anaconda and at 432 slots 4 gimballed beams and 4 gimballed multis its a great all rounder. As others have said the downside is it cant land at outposts which does limit the missions you can take. Its also expensive with an A8 Power Plant at 15% discount is still almost as much as the ship itself.

Still it is an Anaconda ;)

If you just want an Anaconda for trade though, you can make do with the A6 power plant rather than the A8, and the A6 is a smidge over 16m if bought without discount. You do definitely need an A-rated power plant if you're fuel scooping in it though, as I tried scooping with the D8 power plant and the heat shot up almost as quickly as when you jump between two stars.

I did what you had queried, My Python for my Annie, trade fitted it out and went on those slave trading runs, busted out around 8m an hour, when I'm not trading I swap out the cargo racks for hull reinforcement packages, I run 4 pulse and 4 MC's, ships good enough for PVE, don't matter too much about the landing pad size, missions are filtered out to accommodate your shiny new ship, mission choices limited? Sure but depends on what you want from them, credits? Just go slave run. I traded my Python once for Annie and went back soon after, did it again sometime later and I'm still with it.

I'm gonna keep it this time, as bongo says, trading annies ( trannys ) can be built on a budget, especially if you get the ship on a discount like I did too. Here is my trading set-up.

I drop an A6 thruster on my trade conda as well, you lose a bit of speed (over the D7) but the maneuverability of the A-rated is much better

Don't buy a 'Conda as your only ship, its great but very restrictive in some aspects and can be very expensive to fit out, a full sized A rated power distributor is over 27 million most places I seem to remember.

it's also not as much "fun" to fly as the smaller and more nimble ships like the Python. If you want large, versatile and combat capable as you only ship I'd suggest a Clipper if you dont want to keep saving for a 'Conda on top of keeping your Python.

I can't help but weight in. I traded my Python for the Anaconda. Don't regret it at all. Loved the Python, but as a trader and explorer, the Anaconda is the better option. I don't miss outposts because all of my trade routes (not just slaves) utilize large stations. I use a clipper for a lot of my light combat needs which is also restricted to large pads and again, have not missed medium pads.

Annie is a pain to maneuver, that is a drawback. But not unbearable. You can build a tradeconda for under 140 mil. I think mine was less than 130 mil originally. Id have to check Coriolis again. Note, that is if you buy/outfit at LYR space.

I wouldn't trade in the Python as the loss on the sale of the hull is pretty high. You could consider striping it down to the minimum components and then storing the hull, and seeing how much cash that leaves you.
