Ships Python trading build

Why not try something like this?

Pros:

More cargo. If you are doing A-B trading or even A-B-C trading you don't need a discovery scanner because you will only be visiting the same systems over and over again and don't waste time fuel scooping. The extra 8 tonnes of cargo will pay for the fuel and then some, allowing you to increase your profit per hour.

Stronger shields. If you get interdicted the stronger shields will give you more time to jump. 467 shields is very respectable for a trade ship.

Cons:

It will be a bit slower with the smaller thrusters but lets be honest here. It is not like you are going to be out running anyone in a Python anyways.
The smaller fuel tank will make you have to fill up at each station but that is a small sacrifice and won't matter with the extra money your making and time your saving by not fuel scooping.

Good luck CMDR!

I forgot you can equip the class 3 shields. You could do this as well

Now you have a really small tank though but the 280 tonnes of cargo is nice and 344 on shields isn't too bad.

Thank you all. These are great. Gives me an idea of what else can be changed. The advanced discovery scanner will be removed for something else when I reach my home system after purchasing the ship and components. Using for easy money and exploration rank during the travel back.

I'd suggest fitting some class 1 or 2 turrets in the weapon slots to act as a deterrent if nothing else ;), they'll also land a few hits without interfering with running away :)

People put scoops on because the fuel was meant to be expensive - but I just bought my Python today thanks to the 15% discount and I haven't noticed any difference in fuel costs compared to my Type 7. Costs me a couple of hundred for my 30LY trade route. My scoop is going, to be replaced with more cargo.

Here's a variation on my current "cheap" armed trader with substantial cargo capacity and decent offensive/defensive systems (easily good enough for nav point hunting) it's kind of a multi role ship like the Cobra and Asp, I fit a 6D shield for almost the same performance as the 5A at a fraction of the cost along with a docking computer (I'm lazy ;)) and a scanner because I'm going to moving around trading/bounty hunting/PP whatever.
