Newcomer / Intro Python vs. Fed Dropship vs. Imp Clipper?

The dropship is soo terrible, its totally useless at the moment. I think the orca is the same useless. Makes me think: Maybe there will be a new passenger mechanic soon(TM), making those ships actually usefull. Did anybody ever see a dropship or orca piloted by a human?

I think they're so bad because being flown by NPCs. I haven't seen any drop ships flown by humans so far, but taking them down quite often. My personal experience shows that human flown ship (any ship) much more difficult to destroy. Sidewinder with human pilot could be a problem for my cobra, same time NPC python is just a minor delay on my way. I guess NPCs are randomly equipped vs human, who knows what he is doing.

I tested the dropship in beta but it wasn't upgraded at all so I can't really say how good or bad the ship is. I thought about once I get my Conda trade ship set up to get a drop ship kitted out just to see how well it can do. It does have decent firepower but not so good agility. Once Wings comes out I do feel a dropship will be a good support ship if fighting in groups for being a heavy hitter that doesn't cost as much to maintain as a Python but but solo combat against other players I think it will get owned.

Have not tried the others but the Clippper I thought was bad tbh for the money. Crap weapon spreading, crap jump range etc etc. Its just crap.
