Ships Python vs Federal Assault Ship Maneuverability

Hi, has anyone did a serious test about FAS and Python compared maneuverability?
For example full outfitted and with bot A rated Thrusters.

I'm curious because both are stated having an agility of 6/10, but i keep reading FAS pilots saying they handle like Vultures so I would like to know how much truth there is and how much is just enthusiasm for a new released ship.

Thanks all.

I own both and I can honestly tell you, there is a huge difference between the handling of these ships. I have no idea how many magic thargoids one needs to smoke in order to come up with that agility number, my python is a lumbering whale compared to the federal assault ship. My python has since been relegated to trading and mining duties, and I sold my vulture after trying out the FAS, since dogfighting in the FAS is a joy. Dogfighting in a python is an exercise in frustration trying to shake small ships off your tail. If you enjoy flying a vulture, the FAS is a fun step up and I highly recommend it.

I can vouch with Vurt. Have flown both of these this week and the FAS is an absolute joy to fight in, it flies like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

Its just one fugly mother that's all :)

I have to say I don't really understand the agility rating. I don't know if you have seen these data, but look at the numbers for the Viper, the FdL, the Impeagle, and the Python. All of these allegedly have a agility rating of 6, but their actual roll and pitch speeds wildly differ (with the Python being by the far the worst).

The FAS is great, it's easily my favourite combat ship in the game. It's not without its flaws.

It's a lot faster, and more manoeuvrable than the Python, it's far closer to a Vulture. But it has two extra hardpoints over the Vulture, is a lot faster, and has a Class 6 Powerplant instead of the Vulture's Class 4, that's huge. And it's hull is very tough.

On the downside, its shields are poor, and it's fairly difficult to keep all HPs on target. Even with gimballed weapons, you'll find 1 or two will stop firing unless you line up perfectly. And, as said above, it is big and clunky.

I don't know what's going on with its mass though, it's a lot heavier than an Anaconda!?! Yet it's sooooo much more agile.

Like the FDS and FGS it's made of pig iron (cheap and heavy) Anaconda's apparently are made from unobtanium (expensive and light), joking aside it's a cracking ship, try it with fixed pulse to get all weps firing.

Hah. I have a follow-up question. If I fit fixed weapons, how do I avoid missing the target? ;)

As in GOT "stick 'em with the pointy end!" (AKA nose ;))

I did try a lot of weapon fit's in the Beta and the FAS has enough agility to use fixed just like the Vulture, it's a surprisingly hefty ship to use them on but gimbals end up having one or more weps not firing, fixed take a little more work but I reckon they're worth it.

Ty...think Im a CPO.....Been having a time with my Python in the HazRES....mostly with the wings of three tho...Anaconda and two of these FAS's or Python and two FAS's...Had to run several times.
