Pythons are spanking machines (and I survived) [VIDEO]

Since I arrived, in beta 1, the combat mechanics have been greatly improved, balanced and new ships have been added.

Yesterday, after a few bounty hunting sessions in the Futhark system (mostly hunting Cobras), I spotted a wanted Python in SC. 52k. Probably challenging in my capable Viper. Interdicting.

I had the default hull, shield generator and thrusters, but I was equipped with A rank Power Distributor/Power Plant and dual railguns.
During the fight I remembered the Viper was equipped with chaffs and I was trying to find the right button.

Here's the not so compliant criminal:

The Python's manoeuvrability is dreadful. Many players dislike that fact as it may be imbalanced. I love it! If it needs some serious tweaking I'd like to see the price raised accordingly instead of a violent nerf. Deadly ships are fun to fight!

Thank you so much, Frontier, for such enjoyable fights!

Great job. I've been trading with a Cobra for the past couple of day and have been stalked by a Python.

Rep given.

I like the Anaconda improvements as well.

The only thing is that it makes it harder for new players to get their first high bounty missions and harder to get going.
The game is missing some sort of grouping aspect. If you had to get ~4 pilots together to attack a gang that could be a way to improve everything.

Having flown a Python for a while I can tell you I would not like to go up against a Cobra in it, it turns very slowly and the Cobra will run rings around it.

Player controlled Cobra that is.

That sounds balanced to me then :)

I'm eager to test the Python's agility myself. Every Python I met had that nasty ability to pull a 180° flip turn in no time. Even my Eagle had a hard time avoiding its death-spitting face.
I know the AI uses boost + thrusters and probably FAOff to do those tight turns. As you can see in the video, the Python is facing its own "smoke" trails many times.

And I'm pretty sure the devs are designing some of their ships with the "wings" in mind : Anacondas with Eagles, Pythons and Vipers, …
I hope we'll see specific missions with multiple ships requiring a nice co-op gameplay. Soon™ :)

It should turn slowly, it's a big ship. OTOH large beam lasers will make a mess of a Cobra very quickly.

Looks like you got the programming software for the stick setup pretty nicely :)

EDIT: Just a sec, that looks like my macros!

Its actually a medium ship.Funny this thread came up,i tested this just a few hours ago python vs cobra with a mate.
This match up isn't even close.

Yes I know. I said big ship not large ship. It's about 500t with a light loadout.

Ahah. :) Yes, I'm very satisfied with the controls: X-55 throttle and Extreme 3D Pro stick. I even have my music volume on a rotary (foobar).
When you go hunting, you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
