Pythons - What Do You Use Yours For?

I just recently bought one, but then discovered that I still lack sufficient funds to properly outfit it and hence went back to my Asp, which I feel I have done quite well with. I make my money primarily from smuggling illicit cargo but when attacked, my well equipped Asp rarely has to run away.

For the short time that I had the Python, it seemed sluggish and upon thinking about it, I'm more inclined to just stay with the Asp. It has served me well.

I guess to simplify the question, what type of activity do you feel the Python is best suited for?

Regards,

Athena

-Doing 4m/hr trading slaves and palladium
-Mining, see Londongaming4fun's streams as an example.
-Being a "boring but efficient" battleship.

It has plenty of uses as a moneymaker. I don't think I'll want to be in an Annie for a long time because of it. I currently have an FDL and a Python.

I'll agree with you on the sluggish part. but only at first.

when you have 100m. just outfit for trading. i have almost a full 200mil just in upgrades./ weapons..

To answer your main question..

My Python does what it wants when it wants. and anything it wants. altho I'll go buy a asp if i feel like another month long exploration trip again. currently saving up for a for a Conda kitting to explore

So OP

Long live the Mighty Python

she's most certainly a beautiful ship, if nothing else.

Thanks for the input; much appreciated! :)

The Python is great because you can do what you want. I currently use my as a tank for conflict zones. Shield cells and boosters so you can just tank in there all day.. Turn off FA and you have no trouble keeping you guns on the target..

It's a great trading ship. Loads of hold space, medium jump range, can land on outposts, enough power for 6A shields and four A boosters and still have some firepower in case you choose to fight (I have three gimballed large pulse lasers).

I use my ship as a generalist, trading, fighting, rank missions. It's an A upgraded ship, I just now need to put mil spec armour on it and it will be a keeper ship. I don't see me flying a conda. Just not my style. I find it capable in PvP and have no trouble at all with Any NPC.

In general a very good ship.

Python is the Jack of all trades. Not worth it, if you fly with default setup. I use mine for everything. :)

The Asp is an excellent ship for smuggling, and a very good all rounder. A Cobra with a spacious trunk. :)

I burn things with it. With A grade power distribution it really is a gunboat with good weapons.

Against non military opponents it melts anything below an Asp in seconds, and above strip shields easily.

The powah!

I used to use it for combat but the Courier was more fun.
So the Python is now kitted out solely for mining.

well I would use it for trading twice as much as the Asp. The Python needs a lot of cash to get A grade but a great ship to earn that cash in and once you do and you fly with FA off you can really turn it into a great combat ship as well as the largest cargo capacity of any outpost landing vessel.

I don't use a Python. Pythons use *me*. :(

In Soviet Russia, Python flies you.

Everything.

Except mining that is. Never mining.

However, when I want to clear a bounty on myself, I prefer the sidewinder. Can't think why.......
