Q: How to find compromised nav beacons

Greetings, cmdr.

After seeing the updates killing all lists of RES and CNB, I got a question:

What is the exact criterion for a CNB to show? What kind of system or other factors at least provide a higher chance of finding a CNB when travelling to a system?

(I am clear about RES and I know most lists of CNB but a lot of these places are now invalid...)

Kind regards,

Surfin'

It's not certain but seems to have a large random element. They seem to be more likely the lower the system security level is, but you can have ten systems of identical security [1] and one will have a CNB and the others won't. When the changes came through to their positions in 3.0, all ten existing CNBs in the Colonia region reverted to normal, and ten other systems gained a CNB [2] - neither the previous nor current set had any obvious patterns.

Changes in government, or temporary changes in security due to BGS state, don't seem to have any effect.

[1] I mean identical, not just "they all show up as medium on the map" - there are more subgradations than are shown.
[2] While it's maybe not a lot of use to you, the Colonia Census is up-to-date on which systems in the Colonia region have CNBs.

Thanks for your replies, cmdrs.

Ian, that's the same result in my "investigations" into this - I had hoped there is some real guideline that was accidentally leaked by FDev sometime :)

Krash, thanks a lot, I know that site and some others, too - they all have the problem of updates making a large portion of their entries invalid, unfortunately.

I was in Bolg yesterday and it's compromised! I tried some of the sites to find one as well for a bit of a pagga but they weren't up to date. The rules for how they appear seem a bit vague.
