QoL - landing pad infographic

When I'm landing I like the landing pad graphic that replaces the usual radar.

When I'm taking off, I'm blind. I've just left a pad and been rear-ended by an NPC I couldn't see.

Could we have the radar back when we come to leave rather than the pad? I don't think the pad serves any purpose when leaving, but the radar would so we can see what's around us.

It might be useful, but the pad does disappear fairly quickly, not sure how many meters but it generally is below most AI traffic by the time you get the radar back

It is minor, and a small irritation.

I can't work out what the point of switching is, I am guessing a 'height'. If I'm at the back of the station I can be many hundreds of metres from the pad before I can use the radar to see what's above me as I use a shallow trajectory to leave.

bit odd, I should imagine the switch to radar happens at the same distance as from radar to pad on approach
That would make sense but it may not be the case

I generally prefer a shallow trajectory as well, cant say Ive ever really noticed the point of pad disappearance exactly

Ill do some testing later on I think, see when it cuts out

I would like to see the display be linked to the gear as well the distance, so if you are inside the set distance with the gear down you have the landing display. Otherwise you have the normal display. That way you can lift off a few meters and retract the gear to get the normal display :)

Sounds like a solution that would work very nicely indeed! :D

I like Tornado's idea.

But there is a lot of UI potential in ED everywhere, including landing.

Why not have the planet terrain view on the scanner but for the inside of the station, including ship positions inside but clip any ships outside the docking cylinder? And highlight the assigned landing pad on the sensor disc, and give the player better indication of its relative direction. That way the display stays static the entire time one is in the docking cylinder- and by static I mean it stays the same/ consistent, instead of blinking from the pad view to normal radar.

I think for passenger ships the landing should have to be very gentle to get max payout. Back to core-gameplay; FD really needs to have Season 3 one headline feature (atmospheres) and devote the rest of the season to fleshing out what we have instead of introducing more stuff like multi-crew and SLF.

Thats a very good idea, I rather like that!

I would like this idea plus have the option to disable the landing pad graphic when landing also I never need it.
