QoL request - SRV to auto pick up materials .

Can we make it so that the SRV picks up materials (iron, nickel etc) without selecting it.

It makes sense to require selection for cargo, but for materials it does not and makes for rather janky gameplay as you select, drive forward, drive backwards, select, forwards, backwards, forwards, backwards...

Am I skilled elite space pilot or a learner driver attempting a 27 point turn?

Surely there are a few more forwards/backwards in there than you really need? Select one, drive over it forwards, select one behind you, drive over it backwards, select one in front, drive over it forwards.

Sorry to inform you but apparently you are indeed the learner driver!

Tip: surface prospect on high G planets 1-2G is sufficient. When you blast the rock, the mats usually just stay in a small pile. Select a mat, drive over it until It is collected and stop right there. Then use the contacts tab to select another mat and it will be immediately collected. Repeat till done. May require slight repositioning but the high G severely limits mat scattering.

Yep that's another technique I have used, however these days I more often collect at crystal spike sites and use the mat trader to trade for what I need.

Actually, the SRV pickup logic should be the same as with Collector Limpets mixed with Cargo Scoop on ships:
  • auto-pickup when the Scoop is opened and you drive on the material
  • Ability to ignore unneeded materials via the Contacts panel

This^^
I was about to post this word for word. I would just add - Keep the ability to target single item and leave the rest. (Mat in a pile of canisters)
