Quality of Life Changes/Additions/Suggestions

First of all, feel free to add and comment on this as you want! These are things I'd just think would greatly benefit and improve the gameplay through quality of life changes, etc, preferably in free updates in the future.

PLANTS
  • More Oak varieties! There are SO many species of oak in many shapes and sizes. I'd really love to see more kinds of them.
  • Honeylocust trees, Blacklocust, etc
  • Ginkgo! I am SO suprised we don't have ginkgo trees, I see so many zoos using them decoratively! They have such awesome foliage.
  • Magnolia... How are there no magnolia? It's also up there with ginkgo. Their signature leaves and flowers are so amazing and I'm sad they aren't really in yet.
  • Sweetgum trees
  • Fig trees, so many zoos I've visited in southern parts of the USA have fig trees, often fruiting. I love to eat the figs off them, too!
  • Snake plants, commonly used as decoration!
  • Ficus varieties! Commonly used in tropical vivaria, especially for chameleons!
  • Pepperomia varieties
  • More cacti species

DECOR
  • Leaf litter decors! Specifically as decor and not as plants, to not use up the excessively limited amount of plants animals allow in their enclosures. Having varieties to match each primary continent animals come from would be amazing!
  • More fallen logs and stumps. Rotting logs would be fun to see, with fungus growing in them.
  • More dead trees/ faux dead trees
  • More climbing branches in various shapes and sizes
  • Faux root decor, a lot of indoor animal houses have it on the walls to give the feeling of being underground

GENERAL
  • REDUCE THE LIMIT ON FOLIAGE PER ANIMAL. The limits are INSANE! It's so difficult to decorate habitats in franchise mode with how picky these animals are, considering how they aren't typically as picky in real life.
  • Allow the use of plants not native to animals ranges without detriment to the animal, or a setting for that thereof, in sandbox AND franchise mode. I don't see many zoos with actual baobab trees in giraffe enclosures... At most maybe an acacia or two. Usually they just have native oaks and such.
  • Maybe work on adding varying sizes of exhibits? Some of these exhibit sizes considering the animals within are a little crazy. Especially for the dart frogs!

I’d add Australian plants in general (e.g., more eucalypts, bottlebrush, banksia, kangaroo paw).

As for the plant preferences / limits. In practice you can safely ignore these (both amount and types of plants) without really affecting welfare very much.

I want larger and smaller exhibits and the ability to use all the different terrain paints, regardless of the biome you're building in, like using the desert rock texture in the tropical biome for example.

I like some of these ideas. I'd like to see jacaranda and bougainvillea plants too, and passion flower vines. Bottlebrush and kangaroo paw were definitely noteworthy in their absence from the Australia pack. And yes, magnolia and ginkgo trees.

The leaf litter is definitely a great idea. And be sure to make it traversable. More dead trees and branches for sure. Dead trees are more commonly part of monkey exhibits than live ones, and make more sense for traditional "primate house" indoor habitats. Traversable gravel, plants or small rocks too. After carefully decorating my hippo lake with "realistic" stones and water weeds on the bottom, I had to remove most of them due to them evidently being non traversable. And tired of my antelope getting hung up on the grass clumps in their habitats!

A couple of different exhibit sizes would be nice too. Larger for bigger snakes. Smaller for the inverts and small froggies. Or maybe completely enclosed habitats for escape artist large animals like green anaconda, reticulated python?

Definitely more species of succulent (including some euphorbs--the old world counterpart of cacti) for desert biomes from Asia and Africa.

I'd like to see them round out the outline/silhouettes for the animal species and signs/decorations for different species that are still missing.

I'd really like to see some new habitat barriers and gates, especially if they match the building themes. I'm in love wit h the new European stone wall and it really annoys me that if I want my barriers to match, I have to do the whole null barrier thing and then set up the barrier which is basically doing it twice!

Another couple things from me:

  • Update the older models to match how realistic the new DLC animals are, such as de-cartoonifying the big cats, de-fattening the zebras, etc
  • Make the Galapagos tortoise a more accurate larger size as adult
  • Allow warthogs to use burrows
  • More color variations for Llama, esp considering 90% are the same pied texture
  • Reduce required depth for diving, it’s really obscene when you’re trying to make accurate enclosures but you can’t have a normal depth for say, tigers, cause it needs to be 5x deeper to let them go under the surface
  • Add perching for peafowl, makes me sad I can’t make them pretty perches they can use

This so much! It's insane how few barrier types we have to choose from in a ZOO game. Hell at this point we probably have more than twice as many visitor paths than habitat barriers to choose from, this can't be right. Not to mention how all those custom fences not only take ages to make but also drive the piece count up like crazy, which in turn drives performance into the ground.

When it comes to plants, well just give me anything! More plants and more variations! :)

Other than that, here is my list:
Faux rocks and trees
Dead trees
Fallen logs

Cladding wall pieces
Bavarian wall pieces
More random mural pieces
More random glass pieces (coming in various shapes and sizes)
More non-grid pieces

Smaller toilet signs
Animal skeleton (for a museum or whatever)
More animal signs
More statues (flexicolor and various sizes)
More signs (example: stop, no feeding, parking zone etc)
More fountains (various shapes and sizes)

Plush toys
Tools (example: pitchfork, shovel, rake etc)
More placeable food
More sacks (flexicolor)
More buckets (flexicolor)
Shopping racks with clothes
Better water trough (or simply more options)

More effects (example: butterflies)
More fences
More exhibits (different shapes and sizes)
More shops

More terrain paint (mud, gravel etc.)
- or at least let us choose which terrain paint we want to use before starting our zoo just like in Planet Coaster.

More sandbox settings:
Enable/Disable pooping
Enable/Disable animals requiring food/water
Enable/Disable buying injured animals (or enable/disable scars)
Separate box for birth (atm I think it's together with aging)
Always buy/get gold, silver and bronze animals
