So I've been playing the game since launch and I'm still playing the game to this day (and stream it almost daily on twitch). It would be an absolute lie if I said I didn't love the game cause its almost everything I ever wanted since I was a kid (I'm 26 now). The key word though is "almost".
Playing the game almost everyday, there's more than a handful of places where the came could be improved (whether it be with fixing quirky glitches or just adding some little details) and I wanted to share my list of things in the game that could really use some polish along with areas that are almost immersion/game-breakingly hard to ignore. This list isn't in any particular order.
From Planet CoasterConsidering how dense the parks get with people, I 100% understand that adding stuff like Rest Areas and placeable benches/trash cans (from Operation Genesis) would be a near pointless addition but, there's definitely areas where they could be implemented without dedicating entire game mechanics to them.
Maybe benches could be added to some buildings and guests can sometimes walk up to them and use them? Or maybe benches could be randomly generated like how some of the large paths are generated with trash cans (that are also never used and something that also needs to be addressed)?
Benches on the side of restrooms, bowling alleys, eateries, and arcades that are never used but, the guests LOVE to walk around aimlesslyIn some instances, there's places where benches DO exist but, aren't ever used and while I DO love the game and appreciate all the love and care that went into making it the game it is today, there are places where benches and tables seem like they were completely omitted just so that animations didn't have to be included like the upper deck of the clothing shop, the viewing galleries, and front of the restaurant.
Note the Restaurant (left with blue umbrellas) and the Clothes Shop upper deck (right) from the gameTo be honest, the guests just kind of stand in-place in the viewing areas (galleries, platforms, hotel roof) and don't do anything. They don't even leave; they just despawn if there isn't any dinosaurs in the line of sight instead of using the doors to leave.
The thing is that it isn't even a matter of it taking too much time and resources to include because when the RtJP expansion came out, there were chairs and tables everywhere; on the helipad, the hotel decks, the Visitor Center patio. In spite of all this, there's no staff running the bar counter that's in the helipad area. The bar IS included...just not the tender. That's at least one place where they could have just had a guy standing there. Also, the people come WITH the building. It doesn't matter if the building is open.
Long story short, at the very least, if an animation could be included for guests to just walk up to existing benches to sit or if useable benches could be added, that would be nice. It's not necessary but, its the little things that can speak volumes when it comes to immersion.
They JUST damage buildings.
I wouldn't say its out of the cards to make the twisters harmful to guests either. When dinosaurs knock guests over, they don't get up. They just stay on the group and pretend to be dead until you look away for them to despawn. They don't count as deaths either.
A carnivore kill animation would have been cool too. The games rated T and we have guest death animations so, a kill animation for the driver and marksman where they're launched from the vehicle or pounced by the carnivore that disabled them would be nice. Oh, there's also this scene from the announcement trailer in case anyone forgot about it.
The Vehicle Interactions Are Limited JP's Park Tour (nothing for Gyrospheres or Jurassic Tour Trucks)
Took this screenshot myself with Ansel ♥As far as I can tell so far, this seems to be the case. I've never seen dinosaurs intentionally interact with the trucks or gyrospheres but, at the same time, I don't think they can. I know that the all the non-JP vehicles are still invincible.
Additionally, I was originally under the impression that the ranger had to personally travel to the damaged vehicles to reboot them but, no, you just have to click on the building to restart the tour (choppers could have also been used to removed the destroyed vehicles but I digress). But yeah, I don't believe there's any actual interaction with the JW vehicles (a counter-argument when people say that I should just play JW era if I want more features than JP).
Also, Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and literally every carnivore bigger than the rex have the option for 2 instead of just one (again made this argument 2 years ago and life found a way to bring it back).
I know the are some enclosure signs that can be seen in the film and the park brochure to prove they exist but, yeah, some sort of JW equivalent decor would be lovely (even as a paid DLC).
No One Recovers Dead Bodies
They just despawn but, they stick around for an uncomfortably long amount of time (especially when they're killed outside of enclosures near pathways). Again...not sure what the Lawyer or Legal upgrade research is for lol
I would get if things can't be changed because they're already in the game excuse but, there's definitely a few changes that were made here and there to counter that argument.
Like how the Spino is a piscavore now and how some dinosaurs were resized and how animations of some dinosaurs were fixed when they were broken at one point (I'm looking at you, spinning Baryonyx). Also, after playing Operation Genesis, I discovered that there were indeed side effects of diseases in Genesis.
For example:
Dinosaurs with rabies are prone to have seizures and enter comas if left untreated; requiring ranger teams to revive them (similar to how rangers should be able to revive tranquilized dinos in Evolution but, still can't.
Also, the poison condition is literally just another thing that chips away at health in-game. If they're not gonna paralyze dinosaurs or render them incapacitated for Rangers to revive them, then it shouldn't have even been put in the game to be honest. Though I do hope some sort of apparent side effects of diseases come to the game at some point.
To put this in a hyperbolic way, the choice to omit dinosaurs from JP Challenge mode and Story mode (post-story mission completion) is this community's small scale version of the Pokemon Sword/Shield Regional PokeDex debacle.
If You Play the Game for Longer than 2-4+ Hours, the Dinosaur Animations Freeze and Sometimes Speed Up
If I didn't love this game, I wouldn't have discovered this...I don't know if its even a matter of how long you play the game but, sometimes the dino animations would speed up to the point of sliding across surfaces or sometimes cancel out completely (especially with the Albertasaurus).
Guests Congregate Around Fences That Are Clearly About to Break
I don't know if this was intentional but, if it was, then they deserve what's coming to them.
The Live Bait Feeder Doesn't Have A Preview Arrow To Show Which Way It's Facing
I can't even count how many times I had to demolish and rebuild goat feeders just because the exit direction is random every time.
It's a little detail but, a directional arrow kind of like the ones used for some of the building placements in the game would be nice.
There Isn't A Jurassic World Version of the Gate or Paved Paths as Options for the Jurassic Tour
Just a clean/sleek Jurassic World equivalent of the Jurassic Park gate would be great for the Jurassic Tours.
To be honest, it probably could be done with a chrome version of the letters and even an option to have the island name as a third gate option for the tour for variety.
The Visitor Center Front Door...
Tour Vehicle Paths (of any kind) Can't Overlap
I know its a little thing but, it's something I think about alot.
I would love to have two or more different rides in the same enclosure but, the game's current restrictions just won't let me :c
Also, it would be neat if guest paths could cross over vehicle paths (that might be asking for a bit much though.
Not having guest paths able of going over parts of vehicle tours severely limit what you can and can't do park wise because it renders the entire area within the perimeter of the tour off-limits (especially in JP since there's no monorail system).
Lightning Storms Don't Damage Fences; Just BuildingsIt was something I thought about for a while but, unless there's a twister or an angry dinosaur, the weather conditions seem more like an arbitrary taxation masked as building maintenance more than an actual attempt to uphold your parks safety and security. It would also be interesting if gates could have issues. Not like a predictable event but, just sort of jam or stall during weather conditions that would require the rangers to either repair it themselves or manually (click to) open the gates when the power is out.
My logic behind this is that instead of having monorails everywhere, instead you can have the safaris double as a shuttle between enclosed safe areas of the park; kind of like how the Safari ride in Disney's Animal Kingdom has multiple stations. Parks like Sorna, Sorna 93, Pena, and Tacano could benefit from something like this with all of their narrow corridors and pockets of building areas.
Not Allowed to have Multiple Arrival Helipads?
I was surprised that we were only allowed to have one despite Nublar North having its two entrances. I thought that was a hint to us potentially having more parks with more than one entrance or in the case of Jurassic Park, being able to place more than one entrance altogether (at least 2 or 3). Being able to have multiple entrances would make gameplay on Sorna vanilla and Sorna 93 more open-ended (not having to always start in the default starting area to have more than one Park Tour).
No JP Monorail Equivalent?
I'm just assuming that Lost World had monorails because of Trespasser had them.
Gameplay-wise though, Park Tours can't overlap and if you have more than one tour, the more area they take up, the less areas you'll have for hotels and such.
Turning Off Combat in Sandbox Makes Carnivores Not Hunt/Kill Live BaitThis was something I noticed a couple of streams ago but, yeah, carnivores won't hunt or eat bait if the combat is turned off. If there's no meat feeders (not live ones), the carnivores will just accept their fate and starve themselves (again going back to how carnivores don't get rowdy when they aren't fed).
Despite Evolution taking a lot of its inspiration from Genesis, I thought the inclusion of tornadoes and lightning were purely coincidental but, after playing Genesis for myself (my friend game me his PS2 copy), I realized that the weather in Evolution is actually quite bare bones when it comes to actual gameplay when compared to Genesis though I think adding physics effects to the twisters in Genesis on top of making them cause harm shouldn't be all that difficult considering the rangers can already be affected by them.
I shouldn't be getting requests to build Bowling Alleys, Bathrooms, and Hotels from the Science and Security Divisions or literally anything related to science or expeditions from the Entertainment Divisions.
At times, I wonder if (beyond the story missions) the Divisions have anything to actually do with their respective fields beyond existing to "mirror" JPOG's Administrators.
All the Evolution Divisions do ask for things, throw money at you, and complain if you don't give them their Small Power Plants and Starter Tier Building Upgrades fast enough.
Beyond the story missions, you never do anything that involves treating sick dinosaurs from off-site locations, prepping for inclement weather, or even anything involving the Paleo Diets that were introduced in the Sanctuary expansion or the Social and Spacial features added in the Wu expansion.
If the park actually had an accurate tracking of how many guests where in the park instead of nebulously vague visual indications of what "there's alot of people in the park" looks like, I think the game would probably run a lot smoother.
I guess what I'm getting at is that its okay for the parks to not look packed with models all aimlessly wandering around if it means the game will run better (quality over quantity is better).
This is all I can think of for now but, I'll probably add more when I think of something else to address.
I hope the devs take the time to review these notes. I love this game currently have 1000 hours of playtime and still enjoy playing it.
I hope the devs consider what I had to say and hope everyone in the community shares the same sentiment I have for these little issues so that we can some day see that their fixed ♥

Lack of Animations for Guests Interacting with Objects
From time to time, I hear that the guests in the game just seem lifeless and when it comes to the buildings in the game, they don't really interact with anything. Most of the time, I usually hear the counter-argument that it would be difficult to add animations for "literally everything" in the game. While I get that there's things that need to be cut for optimization, there's some areas where there's just guests standing in-place (like the hotel roof) and most times they're just walking around aimlessly.

From Planet Coaster

Tornados Don't Kill People or Harm Dinosaurs?
I don't have a cool related image but, yeah, they don't. The guest just kind of run away from them and get themselves trapped in little nooks of buildings and sometimes even chase them like its a mosh pit on the move. I don't get it. I would say that the ones in Genesis killed guests but, if the argument was gonna be used that we can't compare this to Genesis then why even put the twister in the game?
They JUST damage buildings.

I also still don't see what the point of the Legal Fees upgrade is since they're never needed. Like...do destroyed vehicles even count towards them?
Which reminds me...
Driver and Marksman Stay in Rangers After They're Destroyed
When they're destroyed they just stay in the vehicle like nothing happened. Not even an animation of them going limp. They stay in the vehicle until you look away and then they're gone.Which reminds me...
Driver and Marksman Stay in Rangers After They're Destroyed

A carnivore kill animation would have been cool too. The Guests Don't Use Umbrellas
This image is almost painfully poetic...
Are you telling me that these people could afford to book a trip at an island amusement attraction safari thing and not afford to bring an umbrella? At the very least, maybe add an option for guests to buy them. I mean...they were added to Planet Zoo (and they're even the color of the ones from Genesis) so...what's up? I hope we can eventually get umbrellas in a quality of life update at some point cause there doesn't seem to be an excuse for this one.

This image is almost painfully poetic...
I Don't Know If Sauropods Have Any Fight Animations
Two Allosaurs Overwhelming A Sauropod
Originally, I was going to talk about group attacks but, I have a feeling that horse was beaten to paste so I was instead wondering if there is any sort of death or fight animations for sauropod cause I honestly have never seen get killed by anything but, time itself.
Two Allosaurs Overwhelming A Sauropod
Lonely Social Dinosaurs Don't Actively Seek Out Their Kind in Enclosures and Try Breaking Out Instead
A lot of the socially needy dinosaurs don't try to seek out their group and tend to wander further away until their comfort levels push them to rampage and break out. This is especially noticeable with the Parasaurolophus because adding Solitary still requires Population to stay balanced and Single Species still leaves them requiring at least 3 or 4 of either social or population to stay sane. On large enclosures (a big focus of Return to Jurassic Park), the social dinos would become very prone to berserking. The Vehicle Interactions Are Limited JP's Park Tour (nothing for Gyrospheres or Jurassic Tour Trucks)

Took this screenshot myself with Ansel ♥
Additionally, I was originally under the impression that the ranger had to personally travel to the damaged vehicles to reboot them but, no, you just have to click on the building to restart the tour (choppers could have also been used to removed the destroyed vehicles but I digress). Guests Get Wet Even Though They're in Roofed Tour Vehicles
I notice this alot especially with the gyrospheres and the Land Rovers. I know the tarps for the safari trucks were inexplicably omitted but, to be honest, that's something else that needs to be changed since it only acts like an excuse for why the passengers are wet.Medium/Large Carnivores Don't Get Agitated or Lower Comfort When Neglected
Carnivores currently don't get agitated outside of missions and when they don't eat they just accept that they'll starve without so much as a hit to the comfort level. If the Food meter gets too low, their comfort levels should lower as well.Return to Jurassic Park Made The T-Rex's Loners Again
The social alterations were limited to Jurassic World and Sandbox so even though we got a new Sorna map AND the buck and doe skins, we still can have both (again). Can the social just be increased to 1 or 2 allowed instead of 1 and only 1? This debate has gone on for 2 years now and its finally reached a point where its more than a small annoyance.
Also, Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and literally every carnivore bigger than the rex have the option for 2 instead of just one (again made this argument 2 years ago and life found a way to bring it back).
No Decorative Building Props for Jurassic World Era?
I thought the inclusion of the signs and lights were the coolest little details to be added with the expansion because they added so much for immersion and overall appearance of parks but, I was sorely disappointed when I discovered that there wasn't any JW equivalents (or the cute little light post).

I know the are some enclosure signs that can be seen in the film and the park brochure to prove they exist but, yeah, some sort of JW equivalent decor would be lovely (even as a paid DLC).

No One Recovers Dead Bodies

The Fog Weather Condition Never Came Back
I was kind of under the impression from this footage that there was a fog weather condition but, it never made it into the game. There is a fog effect that comes with rain though but, it doesn't stick around when the rain stops.
Troodon Spit Causes Poisoning But Not Dilophosaur?
I get they 'poison' condition was added literally because of TellTale but, why doesn't the Dilophosaur spit not cause anything apparent to dinosaur conditions? Better yet, why don't any diseases show any apparent signs of them...well...being diseased? I didn't edit the screenshot above either, there's actual spit that comes from the Dilophosaur and yet it didn't get an update after the Wu expansion?
I would get if things can't be changed because they're already in the game excuse but, there's definitely a few changes that were made here and there to counter that argument.

The JP High Voltage Signs That Inspired The Ones On The JW Fences Don't Appear Return To Jurassic Park
Not sure how this slipped anyone's mind but, after I realized it was missing, it bothered me more and more.

Jurassic Park Era Buildings Play Either Ambient Sounds or Music But Jurassic World Buildings Don't
Just something interesting I noticed that I don't think anyone noticed.
I mean...the Operation buildings and Arrival Station have ambient sounds but, I don't think anything else does.
The Land Rover Plays Trivia About The Gyrosphere
Just thought I'd point that out because its not something I really want to spend 20 minutes putting together a ticket about.
The Albertasaurus Seems Like It's Always Missing A Few Frames of Animation
Honestly not sure how to explain this but, it does and I don't showcase it all that often because of that.
The Spinoraptor (and probably a few other dinos) Has A Weird Collision Situation
Camouflage Shouldn't Be Limited to the Indominus Rex
At first I wasn't wondering why it wasn't made available for the Indoraptor as well but, then, I remembered there's also the Carnotaurus; the one that made putting camouflage on things cool in the first place.

There Isn't A Randomized Weather Option in Sandbox Mode
I always thought it was weird that you can't pick and choose which weather conditions you want to have in your sandbox park or just have them set to be unpredictable altogether.
I mean...is there actually a living person out there that has their sandbox park set to tornadoes only?
The Operations Center Is The Ugliest Building in the Game and It's Just the Security Building
Can we get a helipad equivalent for Jurassic World so we can stop looking at it?
Also, Sorna 1993 could have had a monorail station instead of an Op Center.
I get it was a plot device for the Sanctuary expansion but, beyond that, it just seems like cutting corners.
On the Right Edge of Sorna 1993, The Mountain Isn't Fully Textured
Return to Jurassic Park (or just the Jurassic Park theme in-general) Needs Viewing Buildings Otherwise the first 30 minutes of Challenge Mode will Always Look Like This
I would pay if it had to be a paid DLC for the extra buildings. Heck, I'd pay literally anything that was more Jurassic Park content over Jurassic World content.
The screenshot above is from a stream I did.
I genuinely get that the point of the expansion is to make it like the movie/book but, I feel like the only response I'm getting for not having more content for the JP theme is just...
" Because NO
"
I'm happy that the devs made a mostly faithful recreation of JP based on the source material but, who ever was happy with not getting more content/replay value?
I know this is something that's been discuss to death already but, I feel like this is one thing that's honestly keeping the Jurassic Park theme buildings from being nearly perfect.
The Dinosaur List for the JP Theme in Challenge Mode Shouldn't Have Been Limited
I get that you can't have stuff like the Indos and hybrids but, beyond that, its just choosing to have less replay value and fun in the game...just because.
Literally half of the roster that was originally introduced in Genesis isn't available in JP Challenge Mode.
I didn't unconditionally pay to play a Jurassic Park DLC just to be told I can't create the park of my dreams with all the challenges that come with it.
Furthermore, its not even a matter of what DLCs some may/may not have because the Euoplocephalus was from the Sanctuary expansion and the Proceratosaurus was from the Carnivore Dinosaur pack. There's a handful of dinosaurs I'm missing but, there's definitely a few DLC dinosaurs that made it into the JP version that would render the logic behind omitting all the other dinos in the favor of fewer. It was a thing in Genesis and it could double as a mechanic for players that can't afford to build tall feeders early on in challenge mode.

Seeing as how the JP theme lacks monorails, it would be nice if the Park Tour and the other safari style rides could have multiple stations. Multiple Helipad/Arrival Areas
I was always interested in the idea of having multiple arrival areas ever since Nublar North was introduced and once Return to Jurassic Park came out, that interest turned more into a fascination once helipads were introduced. With the focus on safari style parks and larger maps, multiple helipads would allow players to create small pocketed guest areas that offer more room for actual open range safaris. Not Allowed to have Multiple Arrival Helipads?

Turning Off Combat in Sandbox Makes Carnivores Not Hunt/Kill Live Bait
Twisters and Lightning Strikes Don't Kill or Harm Dinosaurs
I've been playing quite a bit of Operation Genesis on my downtime from streaming and I was wondering if the twisters and lightning could kill dinosaurs (since they don't harm them in Evolution) and lo and behold, they do. I watched a Ceratosaurus get swept away by a tornado and flung into a mountain; killing it through blunt force trauma. I was SHOOK.Despite Evolution taking a lot of its inspiration from Genesis, I thought the inclusion of tornadoes and lightning were purely coincidental but, after playing Genesis for myself (my friend game me his PS2 copy), I realized that the weather in Evolution is actually quite bare bones when it comes to actual gameplay when compared to Genesis though I think adding physics effects to the twisters in Genesis on top of making them cause harm shouldn't be all that difficult considering the rangers can already be affected by them.
Interestingly, the choppers in Evolution are completely impervious to twisters; no push, no destruction, nothing. Again, something that should be changed in the future.
Twisters Don't Uproot Any Foliage (from the Playable Area)
The twisters also don't remove any foliage; something else I discovered was a thing in Genesis. There's actually a mechanic where the twisters actually uproot trees and even remove paths. I know there's particle effects to show branches and debris in the twister when its in wooded areas but, its purely cosmetic. In the future, this could be altered to have the twisters uproot/remove foliage from the playable area; forcing the player to replant it. Maybe the debris can even be flung at buildings and increase the likeliness of dinosaurs being harmed or killed by the rogue debris?Twisters Don't Uproot Any Foliage (from the Playable Area)
You Can't Preemptively Immunize Dinosaurs to Diseases Outside of Splicing in New Genomes
In the game, you can check in the database to see what diseases certain genomes would render dinosaurs immune to but, you can order Ranger teams to inoculate your dinosaurs with immunization shots. You Can't See What Period Dinosaurs Are From in a Dinosaur's Info Tab
When you click on a dinosaur, you can see their health stats, their visitor rating, how many times they killed things, broke out, etc. but, you can't see what period their from and, outside of Campaign/Story Mode, you can't access the database (in Challenge or Sandbox). So unless you can remember what dinosaurs are from what era, chances are you'll need to have a wiki open either on your phone or in another tab. While this might not seem like a big deal to some, its a simple detail that takes out of the game. It wouldn't hurt to have an extra line on a dinosaurs' info box saying if their from Cretaceous, Jurassic, or Holocene period. You Can't View the Dinosaur Database in Sandbox or Challenge Mode
I get you wouldn't need to really have the character info and transcripts available in Sandbox or Challenge Mode but, at the very least, players should be able to gradually unlock their dinosaur and dig site database in Challenge mode and have it all accessible in Challenge Mode.Guests Don't Care What Dinosaurs are in the Park
They don't. It's just numbers. They don't care what period their from or if they're being paired with the correct period dinosaurs.
All they care about is the dinosaur ratings obtained through gene splicing for their stat increases.
There should be small point deductions for pairing dinosaurs from the wrong periods together based on guest feedback.
I don't mean make every single guest clickable (considering there's far too many) but, at the very least there should be a demographic chart stating which groups are casual dinosaur fans and the ones that are bothered by the mixing of periods. They don't. The Divisions Don't Give Contracts Related to their Departments and Don't Provide Anything Helpful Beyond Money
The Science and Security Divisions want Bowling Alleys and Restaurants and Entertainment keeps asking about Genomes and making Dinosaurs fight.
Sometimes the contracts make sense. You'll get contracts from the Security division about preventing deaths or shelter coverage but, there's plenty of times that the contracts are not only uninteresting (when compared to the Store mode ones) but, also downright absurd.
The Science and Security Divisions want Bowling Alleys and Restaurants and Entertainment keeps asking about Genomes and making Dinosaurs fight.
On top of that, why don't the divisions actually provide any useful information?
In Genesis, the Security Division told you when buildings were damaged, if inclement weather was coming, and if guests were killed. Wu helped you with researching stuff while Sattler told you when dinosaurs were sick. And the Entertainment lady (I don't remember her name) told you how guests were feeling in the park, if they were tired, if there was overcrowding, low dinosaur visibility, if your shops aren't making a profit and how to adjust your park to appeal to demographics. All the Evolution Divisions do ask for things, throw money at you, and complain if you don't give them their Small Power Plants and Starter Tier Building Upgrades fast enough.
Contracts Are Repetitive and Uninspired
With similar sentiments to the previous note, the contracts aren't ever interesting and when they're trying to be interesting they're just large inconveniences (like making a dinosaur with specific stats just to sell it).Beyond the story missions, you never do anything that involves treating sick dinosaurs from off-site locations, prepping for inclement weather, or even anything involving the Paleo Diets that were introduced in the Sanctuary expansion or the Social and Spacial features added in the Wu expansion.
Even After the Return to Jurassic Park Expansion, Character Images in the Database Haven't Been Updated Yet
This IS Ellie Sattler
I know it should be common sense who the characters are but, there's literally images of most of the characters that were used in Return to Jurassic Park that still haven't been used to replace their placeholder images in the database. Not sure how anyone missed this but, yeah, the database images all need some updating. Also, the mercenary dude from JP3 is NOT a raptor. I know this also should be common sense but, the Dream Sequence Raptor has a loading screen quote so if I was just some casual new player or a naive kid that picked up the game, I would be convinced that half the characters in the database ARE for a fact random objects, dinosaurs, and pieces of equipment.

Provide Stats for Individual Guests Instead of Randomly Generating People to Fill the Parks
This one is kind of more of wishful thinking as it probably won't happen unless there is a sequel but, whenever guests appear in the park, it doesn't ever really relate to the number of guests supposedly in the park. Instead, they just come out of the woodworks with no real explanation as to where they came from. I get that Frontier was praised for making JWE more optimized than Planet Coaster but, once you're at your peak levels of park quality, the game's performance definitely takes a hit because its just pumping out more and more guest models to create the illusion that the park is full of people.
