A minor beef, I have had quite a few experiences with hanging outside a station awaiting docking permission, I think this as an in game experience is ok but needs to be time limited, I exhausted my patience at 20 minutes, that kind of wait is not game play, its boredom.
That gripe said, I suggest the following. On applying to dock, you get docking permitted or denied and if denied a message that you are in the que to dock (we are experiencing technical difficulties and apologise.... etc, estimated wait time is X, X should be a maximum of 5 minutes, or you should be diverted to another station). You should be able to declare an emergency (if you have sufficient in station/faction standing) and be allowed to dock (no fuel, or no life support) like a mayday call at an airport. Each Mayday should lower your standing though and have a high docking charge (if you put docking charges in to the game).

Love the game and enjoying learning how to play.

this can be a problem in outposts. And if cmdrs are docked in all ports you have no choice but to wait until someone leaves. There is no way to limit how long someone can stay there. I have been docked in an outpost for over an hour before now because I was browsing the shipyard, ect then decided to pop to the shops (i was in a system with almost no traffic though). I only ever tend to log off when I go to bed.

If an AI is docked the station will auto depart them so you can dock.

Swap to Solo mode to dock or get away from the newbie systems. You will make more money away from there, go see the sights and avoid queues.

Or quickly swap to solo mode, dock immediately, and then swap back again....

The hangars look like they have multiple levels. I'm sure they could work something out using that, or if need be just shuffle the player around like the shipyard or relogging already does.

BTW I even got docking denied in SOLO, in a small but busy outpost (5 minutes wait)
