Quest 2 This key has been canceled by the developer

While doing research into setting up VR for Elite Dangerous I found out there is a key I can use to redeem for the game on the Quest 2. I activated the key on frontier and when I try and redeem the key on the Oculus website it says "This key has been canceled by the developer". So just why? How do I fix this?

You "found there is a key" - what was the source of that key? Official Quest 2 store? Official game website? Somewhere else? There could be a lot of reason the key was cancelled. Could be an invalid key. Or one purchased with a stolen card. Or forged. Or redeemed by someone else already. You've not provided enough information to answer your question - and even then our answers will be just educated guesses. You should really write to official FDEV support rather than on the forums.

Ok I will. Its the key from the official Frontier store website. I logged in, linked it to my steam. Activated the key for the quest 2 and tried to redeem it.

I am sure you probably know this but just in case not....... the key even if it is reactivated is not for the quest 2. it is for the oculus rift PCVR store version.
not trying to be pedantic, and the quest 2 does have rift support via link, airlink or virtual desktop but it's just IF you planned to play native on your quest you can't.

the actual PCVR version on oculus store is a dead branch and isn't getting further development (I imagine it probably got the upgrade to 4.0 but not sure)

with that in mind.... if it is PCVR you want you may as well just stick with the frontier store version or the steamversion, that way you can get ED Oddy for it if ever you decide.

Hmm, okay that makes sense then. I was hoping to natively play it on the quest 2 since I'm having all kinds of problems getting my steam version to work with my quest 2 and virtual desktop.

unfortunately you cant..... the quest 2 simply does not have the horsepower to run a game like elite dangerous. that said if you post on the vr forums someone may be able to help you get going on steam. i dont use the quest 2 much for pcvr but i have tried it and it does work for elite..

wireless VR via airlink or virtual desktop is great when it works but it needs a really good strong signal, i know i cant do it all that well.

you may be better getting a usb cable for it. you dont have to buy the £100 official one, but dont skimp too much, you should be able to get a 3m or 5m 3rd party one for around the £30 mark (or local currency equivalent)

i got mine from amazon i think and made sure i read the reviews. just so long as your pc is powerful enough.... you probably want a 1080 / 3060ti or AMD equivalent absolute minumum gpu to run ED 4.0 in VR.

Connection isn't an issues, got 1000up and 1000down. Also have 3060ti and Ryzen 7 2700x with 32gb of ram. Its more of a tech issue. Can't get the controllers to work. Game loads up to menu and I have no control with the quest 2 controllers or mouse and keyboard while in VR.

make sure the game is the app which is in focus on windows.. sometimes i find stuff loads but another app has focus. you can still look around but the controls dont work.

not sure how the game handles quest controllers as default. (the motion parts certainly wont work) it maybe it sees them as xbox pads from the get go.... but it may not.

if you get the arrow keys on your keyboard working and if you can get into settings you may have to create a custom profile for the buttons and sticks on oculus touch. i dont see why this wont work however.

do any other games work in pcvr or is it a common problem you have/
