ED is a splendid game so far, and I realise the following suggestion might be unnecessary or premature, but just in case you're thinking of leaving story and mission content as it is, here you go.
ED can sometimes feel a little empty or "flat", due to the generic nature of missions. There's too few oppotunities for progression in the game. Currently, you can join Fed/Emp navies, or up your reputation with factions of your choice (love the faction dynamics in and between systems btw, keep developing that!). Why not add criminal factions with quest lines for smugglers, hitmen, assassins, pirates and the like? Or perhaps a corporate faction for traders? Or perhaps quest lines for all different professions within the big factions (Fed, Emp, Alli). I'm talking a mining quest line for miners, trading for traders, etc.
