Newcomer / Intro Question about Community Goals & Reputation

I'm trying to rank up with the Empire and I was wondering if doing a pro-Federation CG will make me lose reputation with the Imperials.
Am I going to lose Empire Rep if I do the Federation Gaia Base CG for example?

There is no direct major power rep reduction as a result of taking part in a group goal for one side or another.

There may be local faction changes to rep if you, for example, trade a lot or destroy a lot of ships.

I found while delivering cartography info in last weeks Fed CG, my imperial rep was slowly going down. I often contribute to all CG's, regardless of who it/they are for in order to maximise me moneies

Ultimately however, i found that the reduction in rep was minor and a few trade runs soon had me back to my 100% with the imps

What I NEVER do, however, is anything that will increase my Federal rank. My hope in the future for ED is that loyalty with either power [or even indies] will be rewarded at some point.

Are you sure it wasn't just a normal everyday rep decay just because you are outside the Empire space?

If you are not doing things for one of the superpowers there is a time based drop in reputation but I think the most you can lose is 25% of your reputation, so a drop from allied to friendly.
