Sorry if it's been asked before. I've never been part of such a huge and active forum, I'm seemingly more and more resorting to just asking rather than trawling to find answers.
If I were to write a book, how would I go about submitting it? I don't even know what question to ask. What happens? Is there a team at Frontier that might deal with something like that, read it, decide whether to approve and print? Or do they only approve their own writers? Would I be completely wasting months by writing a book?
It's a hard question to ask. I am very interested in writing some kind of book set in the vast Elite universe. I think this should be encouraged by Frontier willingly accepting submissions for printing to include in their canon. Is there such a thing? The universe is so huge and so many stories can be told. I've read the media usage rules and it only really explains what to do with your own projects. Nothing about how to elevate them to "official", if that's the right word.
Also, one idea I have had about such a book would be to not print it with the Elite logo on the cover. This puts a general audience off, because they will see something they don't recognise and therefore assume it's not for them.
Writing a general sci-fi book, set it in the Elite universe, but not obviously so, not flauntingly so, might encourage people to pick it up and read it. It can have a small introduction explaining that it's based in the Elite universe but is a stand alone sci-fi novel, backed up by some good reviews, that will encourage the reader to go on, and eventually fall in love with the Elite universe, and become another member hopefully.
What are your thoughts on this, and has anyone any answers to my vague question?
Thanks commanders,
Dr. Kaii
