Horizons question about crime system change (or not)

I have been away quite a while waiting for a number of combat-related bugs to be fixed, which it seems they have (fingers crossed) but something unexpected has occurred and I'd like clarification (the usual FAQs about new policies are clear as mud).

Last time I played before taking the break, accidentally hitting a friendly in a RES (such as when they streak through your fire path like clueless idiots) got you a fine (Reckless Discharge) and some cussing out by the friendly. Last night, my first session back, after such an event, I was also attacked by three friendlies -- it may have been a wing the offended NPC belonged to, I didn't stay around to find out. I was not graced with Wanted status, just the lousy 200cr fine, but suddenly friendlies are hot on my tail feathers? Is this normal or should I report it as a bug? It is too similar to the crap combat bugs I was waiting to get fixed to just let it go by.

Get to a factors broker at a low security system and pay it off.
No need for an IF, as I was not Wanted, as I said. I paid the fine at a system orbital, with the Anonymous Access label until paid, SOP. But what was not SOP, and what I asked about, is whether friendlies turning on you for a Reckless Discharge fine that does not carry Wanted status is considered SOP now. It is too reminiscent of the bug(s) that drove me away for while, like friendlies turning on you for no reason, and on themselves for no reason, ruining the RES experience.

The faction that placed the wanted status on you would definitely have their npcs on you to claim that cheque. Its exacerbated if that faction also runs system security.

Why do I have to say this three times? I was not Wanted! That is why the friendlies turning on me was unusual and questionable. I guess commanders have lost the ability to read with comprehension. Please lock this thread before any more useless replies are made. Thank you.

Since you were not wanted, those NPC's should not have been attacking you, unless your reputation with said faction dropped to hostile, which seems unlikely.

It may be a bug, yes. I had one instance of NPC's wrongly attacking me during a mission. I was attacked by a mission spawned NPC, and when system authority dropped in to 'help' two of the three started attacking me instead of the wanted NPC. I was not wanted, had no illicit cargo and the authority ships were allied to me.

As I said, has only happened the once to me, so assuming it's a bug it's both random and rare.

Edit: I added my experience to this bug report, as it seemed to be similar.

No need to be a nasty little troll.
For your attention, you may have been wanted by a minor faction. No wanted status may have been displayed when you ran away with your tail tucked between your legs as the faction after you may have not been the faction that runs system security. It is possible to be wanted in a system by a faction without the big red wanted sign in your face.

Apart from that, it seems like you answered your own question in the op.
You shot them. They didnt like it. Why is this so powerfully confusing to you ?

No need to be an elitist either, as you obviously are. The friendlies after me were Fed Security Ships, faction unknown. The only time they have in the past attacked me was when all friendlies would attack because of an infraction that also carried the Wanted status, except for the period after an update a while back when huge combat bugs appeared and friendlies would attack without reason, both players and themselves. These bugs made combat next to useless. which is why I left the game for a few months. I did not ask for an explanation of why they attacked, just if it was an unusual occurrence worthy of a bug report, as it would have been in the past. The crime system being the hot mess it was (and perhaps still is), it would not surprise me to have such a bug still around.

And only an idiot would stick around to fight FSS because taking them down would incur a Wanted status, but then it seems "idiot" is a job requirement for some Commandeers these days.

Yeah. Sorry.
I cant help. You see, I dont hunt around in areas needing the help of npc feds. RickP

It sounds like you got caught between the "reckless discharge" and "You attacked my wing mate" logic branches.

It does sound like it could be a bug.

@Faded Glory -- thanks for your anecdote. That sounds exactly like the bug that caused me to leave the game a few months back, as combat situations were well-nigh impossible in CG scenarios, which often employ RES sites. I guess it's possible it's still around, though it seems much less prevalent.

@Greybeard -- I will wait until it occurs again and is more clearly defined before reporting it. In heavy RES-High combat it can be difficult to determine who you actually hit to draw the Reckless Weapons discharge fine -- I'm not 100% positive the greenies who turned to meanies were the offended party, though it seemed connected at the time. There was a short delay between the notice of the fine and them getting red on 'em, so maybe it was just the bug and not really related to the fine. That's why I asked originally if it was unusual, as a crimes system update could have made RWD more serious.
