Question about data uploaded to EDSM

Very strange thing.

I just uploaded some old journal entries I found on my old laptop (manually through EDSM) and when I went to check and see how those affected my data I found my numbers had reverted to what they were before uploading the data I had mentioned in the OP. the exploration tab in EDSM says I have discovered 30 HRGG's. The strange part is when I use the advanced search function and look for HRGG's first scanned by myself I get 203 results and all the system data from my survey is still there but is not being added to my exploration data tab on EDSM. Not a huge deal since now this only seems to be affecting the numbers displayed on my exploration page and the actual data from the systems I surveyed is still accessible but strange none-the-less. I wonder if uploading some old files could have caused this? Has anyone else experienced anything similar after uploading old journals? I'll try re-uploading the other data again to see if that corrects things.

Edit: Ignore me. I figured it out. At the top of my exploration page it told me to refresh the screen to update things 10 days at a time for the last 500+days... so uploading old journals was the issue but after refreshing 50+times it's all back to normal.

The question is, Does it take a bit of time (5+ days) to update your exploration data in EDSM? here's the reason for the question.

I recently returned to Colonia from a small trip. I found an area with a bunch of Helium-Rich Gas Giants so I began surveying the area. I visited around 300 systems in the area and found quite a few HRGG's. I didn't upload any of my data from EDD to EDSM until I returned to Colonia last Wednesday. Not because I'm paranoid about someone stealing my discoveries I just don't run EDD all the time when I play so I tend to just do batch uploads every so often. Anyways, None of the HRGG's I discovered are showing up in my exploration data on EDSM. When I look at my HRGG's it says I have 32 first discovered. While I didn't keep a good record I must have found 70+ in this region and those 32 are all prior discoveries anyways.

All of my other data in EDSM appears current such as assets, number of scanned systems and my exploration income. My flight log has all of the systems I visited during the survey listed but when I check them they list no bodies. I'm not terribly well versed with how EDSM collates all the data that is uploaded to it. I'm just being impatient and just want to know how many HRGG's I actually found during that survey. The real lesson here is I should keep my own records when I do something like this!
My data from console will absolutely not update and hasnt since June. Its because i use my phone and dont own a computer. It takes incredibly long and starts over everytime the screen times out. Ive tried to put in support tickets, they said theres no problem i just have to leave it open for a few hours. How is a person with a job supposed to keep their phone screen open that long?

They need to make an android/iPhone app and quit living in the past. Everything is done on phones these days

dude, it's voluntary work. it's not their fault that your particular platform doesn't allow third party apps like a regular windows pc does. if it did you'd probably could use it on the same hardware and over the same line you use for the game just like regular pc users do. i don't need my phone at all while playing. dunno, quit living in a walled garden? 🤷‍♂️ :)

Its about cost efficiency. I have no actual need for a computer. I DO need a phone. I can afford a phone, i cant afford a computer. I wasnt saying ' they should make this or else blah blah blah' just that this day and age when everything is mobile, getting on board isnt a bad idea. Real quick to jump on my back about it though. I feel like you took that personal in some way. Are you a volunteer for them?

The food bank is all volunteers too but if they give spoiled food its still messed up. Its not an argument, it was a suggestion. Take it easy. Wow

EDSM was written by a PC user for PC users when FDev provided no mechanism for console players to get involved at all, bar manual entry of some data through the website.

Since then FDev gave us a limited window into console data and Anthor has integrated that into the existing service as best he can without reinventing the wheel. Redoing the whole thing, or writing a whole new mobile front end then jumping through the hoops of getting it onto Google and Apple stores isn't worth it for a relatively small number of potential users who don't have access to a PC browser.

It's about cost efficiency.

A suggestion is something you make to the person who actually works on EDSM, maybe when you put in the support tickets.

When you repeat it on a public forum, in a thread to which Anthor is not a party, couched in pejorative phrases like "quit living in the past", then it's just entitled whining.

As a contributor to other third party tools the point where you liken the lack of the interface you'd prefer to food banks giving out spoiled food is the point where you just become outright offensive.

no, and no.

actually, yes you did, by implying they are "living in the past" just because they don't perfectly fit your particular setup (like, you are the future, i guess?). in a nutshell that's choosing the wrong platform and then telling a couple of guys that use their spare time to write some software to provide a free service to "get on with the times" so you can have it all. first, that's totally wrong from the get go and second it's an at least impolite way to float your suggestion to such people ... with whom (disclaimer) i don't have anything to do. it's not that i feel they should be offended, they shouldn't nor would that be my concern, it's just your position seemed very Inconsiderate, something i understood as the usual rudeness that often accompanies ignorance and just tried to dispel. 😜

nothing personal. hope this clears this up.

well, other than that i can be a total jerk, but i think you knew that already, filthy mick :D

everyone has his personal triggers it seems. sometimes we just forget who we are addressing. e.g., bashing frontier is just fine. it really is. they're a private company offering a service for money and on top of that have accrued some consistent criticism. these guys do it for the common good and do it in their spare time. simple as that. nothing more, but nothing less. i have huge respect for these people, even if i might not share their objectives or views.

I suppose it's easy to seem inconsiderate when you feel unconsidered.
