Horizons Question about Decoding the Ancient Ruins Payment

Hello, i just started the Decoding the Ancient Ruins mission. I keep reading that you get one million credits for each successfully scanned Data Point. I just scanned my first (History 14) and i didn't get any credits. Do i have to fly back to the mission giver to get the credits or how does it work? I will never complete this mission to get the 100 mil bonus. I do not have the time for that, but i would like to make at least a little bit of money from it.

Doing Missions you don't recieve the credits instantly, you have to fly back to the station and then claim the credits for the mission.

I just scanned my 2nd Data Point and the reward switched to 2 mil credits. I was just confused that it started with 1 mil. credits and didn't update. Does that mean you get 1 mil. even if you don't do anything and hand it in the moment you get it? Anyway, thanks for the answer.

I wonder though: Can you turn it in to get the credits for the Data you found so far and then continue the mission or is it gone when you turn it in?
