When you're in an opposing power's space or anywhere else and you find ships marked with any power that's not yours, but not marked "enemy", do you get merit points for blowing them up or do ships have to be marked "enemy" to get merit points?

It varies depending on the type of system.

| Acquisition (neutral systems near friendly systems) | Any other Power also in Acquisition range (you probably won't see anyone else, at least not as NPCs) |
| Unoccupied (neutral systems not near your friendly systems) | No-one (but nothing else will give merits either - this isn't a system your Power is interested in right now) |
| Reinforcement (friendly systems) | Any other Power |
| Undermining (unfriendly systems) | Technically, any other Power ... but: - for the Power which owns the system, you get the Power Kill merits (large) and the Murder merits (small) - for any other Power, you only get the Murder merits (small) so it's barely worth the ammunition |
