Newcomer / Intro Question about faction progression

Hey guys, new to this forum so please go easy on me ha! Bit of a noob question to start off with but I was wondering if it was possible to advance down BOTH the federation and imperial ranks? I really, really like the look of the imperial clipper and am not too far off being able to afford it, but from a role-playing and lore point of view I am firmly on the side of the federation...

Any answers/advice would be appreciated as I am wary of starting either should I close the other avenue off to myself.

Hi,

Yes there is no problem with advancing with all three factions - though if you spend your time destroying a faction's ships then you can expect to become "Hostile" with them. That isn't unfixable either if you rebuild your reputation with them though it can understandably take a while before they start to trust you again.

Yes, there's no problems with gaining rank and maintaining friendly relations with both Federation and Empire:

Next, I'll try to get friendly with the Alliance.

Fantastic! Thanks for the really quick response guys! Now I just need to find those damn naval progression missions...

You dont have to hunt for them. Once you reach the secret magic number, they come to you at any and all suitable stations.
