Ships Question about Fuel

I never used to see my fuel go down except when traveling between stars (going into or leaving Super Cruise). I have noticed sitting mining my fuel begin to go down. I don't recall this happening before.
Did I just miss it?

You have two fuel tanks. One main tank and one reserve tank. The main tank is where fuel is taken from when you jump. Above the main tank gauge is the reserve tank gauge along with an indicator of your current fuel usage. When the reserve tank is emptied, it gets refilled from the main tank and the main tank goes down. In ships where the reserve tank is a significant portion of the main tank, the main tank gauge will be divided into sections of the size of the reserve tank. When the main tank is drained you can no longer make any jumps. When the reserve tank is drained, your modules will not get power - including life support, and you will die from lack of oxygen unless you are refilled before the oxygen timer depletes.

Yes, always been like that.

That's why the Fuel Rats tell you to log out if you are really low on fuel, even sitting still in space will use some.

If you look just above the thick fuel bar you will see a thinner one that is continually going down and refills with a chunk from the thick one once it becomes empty.

COOL, thanks for the replies. Never sat around doing mining for so long, so I never noticed the fuel doing that. Passenger missions, Hauling and Dog Fighting it a bit faster between refuels.
