Engineers Question about higher level upgrades from other engineers (Broo)

Hi all,

I took a long hiatus and coming back learned of the engineer changes. At first I was a little taken aback with the whole "wait, now I have to upgrade every single weapon from level 1?" and am over that so its all good. One thing I am still not sure about it is what happens when going from an engineer that does up to say level 3 on a weapon, then unlocking another engineer that goes higher - will I be able to upgrade those same weapons from level 3 or will I need to start over at level 1 again?

Specifically - I have a bunch of Beam lasers at the highest I could get them, L3. I am working on feeding Broos tea fetish to be able to get L5. Once that is done, will i be able to take those lasers from L3 to L5? Or will I be forced to start over from L1?

When you unlock a new engineer you need to rank up with them. So bring a virgin item to engineer from the beginning to G5. Once your at level 5 you can go back and upgrade those G3 items to G5.

Be aware if those previously engineered items are a legacy mod they'll drop 1 grade (so G3 becomes G2) then you'll be able to upgrade them in the new engineering system.
