Question about joining another player at a point in space

Hello. This is probably a silly question, but would I be right in saying that there will be no way to log into the game and instantly meet up at a friend's location?

Meaning that if you want to team up with a friend, you will have to physically hyperspace/jump your way to them?

As far as I know .. yes you're right, you can't jump to a friend's location (unless it's close enough) ... and I really hope that is the case ... too many variables for exploits the other way around ...

Yup you could be giving someone a kicking and they phone a friend who jumps into the scrap blowing you to bits! Flying as a group will be tricky and very dependant on the time people have available.

Yep, I too really hope you cannot just instantly join someone's location. - Would kind of make the size of the galaxy a bit redundant too!

"Help, I'm under attack!"

Isn't that what a distress call is for though?

I did notice that no-one ever came to my rescue in FFE though, so it was really pointless.

No a distress call would be sent out to ships in the vicinity who were playing at that moment in time. I'm talking about physically phoning a friend and telling them I'm at lave getting a kicking jump in and help. Now your friend could be docked anywhere in the solar system but if they are allowed to jump directly to your point it is basically a cheat!

I can't see that being available in the game (Jumping to a friends location) not only for combat situations but explorers who "Need to get back to civilization" could just as easily call a friend and ask to join .. insta travel ... these questions were asked about 'Insta Travel','Pay to win' and 'full Newtonian physics' - this was the reply ... No ..no..no..no..no !
if you are too far away then you are "Too far away" ... Job's done, move on .. If this was in the game it would be a TRUE game breaker for me ..

Agree, I very much hope that it will take at least several days to travel accross inhabited space, and that's assuming continuous play any no accidents.

To travel accross the galaxy to visit a distant explorer, even if you know where they are, should take (at least) months

Yes, but...

Hypothetically speaking, if the IRL friend happened to be docked nearby (within range of the distress call), then they are called on the phone, log on, launch, hyperspace jump (or two), to the location of the distress call, then that is ok?

I have to admit, I don't fancy the idea of insta-rescue from a team of heavily armed escorts...But I am somewhat biased on that. >: )

The friends of my friends are my friends. In ED translation, it could mean that you will have several hyper space jump to join your friends
