How is The Alliance Structured Politically?
Edmund Mahon's main leadership and strategists are called the Alliance Office Of Statistics and they have a comms channel over on the Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteMahon
And their Faction is based in Gateway [Dublin Citadel]
They are the main group pushing the High Level politics, and they are fairly loose.
It's basically a meritocracy with the longest serving and hardest working CMDRs as the leaders.
That would be Vectron and CMDR Steven. Anyone who holds some genuine political status in the Alliance knows them and is known by them.
They have few enough hard working CMDRs that they know them mostly by voice. Public activities like fortification happen directly on the Reddit, so Alliance CMDRs who can't devote full time are able to make a meaningful contribution. But covert activities like Undermining use their teamspeak channel:
thargoid.space:9987 and you need to be a semi regular there to have a position of trust.
They generally have a position of neutrality with regards to other powers, however there are often points of conflict over particular issues.
For example, recently a group of CMDRs called [NULL] had a homeworld near the edge of Alliance space. Their homeworld became contested by Winters and Mahon and they decided that the Alliance was closer to their values and ethos and asked AOS for assistance fighting off the acquisition by Winters.
This lead to a certain amount of heat between AOS and well, the Winters Reddit I guess - didn't seem like the
Minute Men in particular and I think
Winter's Wolves have disbanded. Someone will correct me I'm sure. With [NULL] jammed in between. Winters initially won the system, but it might be a
phyrric victory as [NULL] are dedicated and smart and have become a real thorn in the side for Winters. I'm not sure of the current state of play there, but [NULL] organise on
google+ of all things so you can ask there if you're interested.
The
Alliance Office of Statistics has strong relationships with all of the Alliance groups.
Historically
the AEDC -Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corp- had a lot to do with Power Play strategy in its early days and there was a lot of internal heat between the Alliance groups working for Mahon at that time. The crux of the issue was whether to chase high value but much more difficult systems or whether to grab the low hanging fruit close to home. Economic sense and hard work prevailed and Mahon has consistently been near the top of the PowerPlay rankings ever since. I've heard it said that if they'd taken the low hanging fruit they would now be "the Aisling of the North" with real problems with the balance of payments for Command Capital.
Around November 3301 the AEDC withdrew by stages from PowerPlay to concentrate on their
BGS projects.
The AOS now run the show for Mahon pretty much exclusively, and they do really well. Consistent hard work, comprehensive record keeping, brilliant strategists, realistic diplomatic relations and a fierce belief in the values of the Alliance see them at or near the top of the pile.
Mahon may crack a hundred systems in the next couple of months.
There are many stories of Navies, and the Great Shipyards of Alioth, and relations with Alien Species, but all these things were written of thousands of years ago. Here in March 3302 I see little evidence of these things -
and yet I find so much to be proud of - in the actions of the CMDRs of The Alliance! o7
If any of the other Alliance groups are reading this, can they chime in with a note on how they see the political structure of The Alliance
