Question about Path Edit Tool

I'm having trouble raising and lowering edges of a path. When I drag the "move" icon up or down, (at least I think I'm dragging it up or down) it simply shifts the edge to one side or the other. It's only moving it on a flat plane. I tried holding "shift" but that also does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Paths is still a struggle every time...
They are SO much better than Planco 1, as I can almost always achieve what I set out to do...even though I may have to choose an around about way to do it. Planco 1 paths drove me crazy, as the game would not let me do what I wanted to do, no matter how hard I tried. But the 2 big issues I have with paths in Planco 2 is that when using the line tool, I can't seem to anchor it on the ground. There is no indication of where it as in regards to the ground surface. No matter how I adjust the settings, I still end up in the air sometimes. And the edit tools, which do allow for precise edits, don't tell you if you're moving side to side or up and down. Why don't we have an axis gizmo in edit mode like we have in advanced move mode for objects? Presently, I'm mostly using the stamp tool to add huge slabs of path, and then edit them to the size and shape I need later. It seems to work the best for my purposes.

The path edit tool is only for movement of the size/shape of the path, not the elevation. In order to edit elevation, you either need to recreate the path using shift to move it up or down, or you can select the path like you would a scenery piece and then you can adjust/move it with the advanced move tool like normal (up/down, side to side...)

You have to be within a certain tolerance for it to auto snap up or down to a neighbor piece. But to actively move a whole path up or down without that snap hack, you need to use the select and advance move option.
You may be right, but once again, why do we have to come up with these work around methods? These should be features, not hacks.

Path building was easy peasy in RCT 1-3. You could even hold the mouse button down and drag path around, in PC 1 and 2 you can't do that. You have to click, click, click.

At least while in grid mode it should be possible to place paths with holding the mouse button and moving over the grid...

Since PC1 I'm confused about handling path lengths.
Why is the width in X meters and the length in X?

Now in PC2 I think placing paths is extremely difficult if you just want to add short pieces (especially while creating a starcase or something with similar stuff). The ghostpath is going crazy while trying to find the correct placement...

Hopefully they'll add some tweaks with the path update, too.
