Question about Pilots

Is there any reason to have two elite ranked pilots, other than because of their looks and a "just in case one of them dies" type of contingency? The latter of which, naturally, would be invalidated after this next patch? 20% tax is pretty hefty when you're mining, but 2 maxed out pilots is still nice.

I'm trying to justify keeping more than 1 pilot after this next patch.

It would be rather ironic if surplus copilots got ditched just before FDev introduce a use for them.

I have two NPCs because one started out pretty but got ugly after the addition of Holo-Me, but was too useful to fire, so I hired a new pretty one.

Having more cr's then I can ever spend. Though it's taken awhile, I've got three extremely good looking crew members now whom just sit around and look pretty. They all have made millions and millions through my endeavors. One of which (the first) is fast approaching her first billion. Sure they get when considered together about half my income. But then, I've nothing to spend my half on anyways.

For me, more money is just a way for me to just make and engineer a new ship for a specific role and build without having to go through the whole process of swapping modules and such. You could always bank a few extra class 8 and class 7 prismatic shields for future use too. But then again, if you have 20b+ in cash and another 5B in assets, I can see how even that would lose its meaning after a while.
