Question about Player Roles

Wiki say that i can be whatever i want on the same character all i need to do is just change the ship.
My question is will i have a hangar with ships i buy and swap btw them any time i want?
Second will there be some type of reputation system for Roles the higher it is the better missions you get?

I though t you could do hat ever you wanted in whatever ship you owned, only certain upgrades on your ship would mean that you had an advantage to follow specific career paths - i.e., long distance explorer would not be possible without a long distant jump upgrade, or a bounty hunter with naff weaponry!

Hangers will be available to 'rent' in some places, but this might be expensive! Reputations were mentioned in the DDF

Thanks for explaining that :) so what your saying is it's better to stick to one ship? not like star citizen where you can have as many ships as you want for no fee

I think that the dev team had this in mind when planning the game - to try and keep a level playing field

There shud not be a need to swap ship, in the old Versions the Cobra MKIII is a good example of a ship you can have a good range of diff Equipment for a multipurpose ship that cud perform well in several different jobs.

It did however lack room in the cargo hold for a hardcore trader

You can do whatever you want irrespective of the ship you own, some ships may be good for multiple roles, or the same ship with different loadouts. Totally up to you.

1. Kinderman answered the hangar question fairly well.

2. Ratings and reputation will definitely net you different missions depending where you are on the skill and badassness scale. More here : http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6279

You'll get reputation that will determine what kind of reaction you get from NPCs, and what kind of missions you're offered. However, it's not like some RPGs, where the stats only ever go up and never come down. It should be possible to play as a criminal, but reform and go on to be a successful trader. It will just take a while for people to trust you.

You should go to the archives of DDF, you will have many information. And welcome in the great family of Elite --- http://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=36

While this will be a sort of an MMO in the sense that large numbers of players will be in the same universe it will not have the roles you would associate with an MMO.

You play how you want. You get a ship and equip it how you want to play.

Any ship can fit almost any role. It is limited by your imagination and how you equip your ship based on its size.

For example in previous games do you buy a Python, large transport ship, and then just kit it out to be a Traders vessel. Or do you kit it with the best engines, shields and weapons and a smaller cargo area and hope you get attacked... the attackers get a surprise.

Fun Times.
