Question about Rank Up MIssions (Empire)

Hi folks,

I'm at a loss here. I had no problems finding Imperial Navy Ascension missions up to and including the rank of Baron several months ago. Now I decided to push forward a little and I really can't figure out why these missions are not popping up. I'm thinking I might be missing something, but I can't figure out what it is.

- I got to 100% and kept on doing a few more courier missions to make sure I'm well past the mark. This happened two days ago.
- I pushed my pilot combat rank to Master today. My combat rank was never an issue before, but I did it *just in case*
- I've travelled to several Empire aligned stations in different systems.
- Mode switched several times. I completely logged off, closed and restarted the game client (although I also did so a few times since hitting 100% two days ago)
- I am allied with the Empire. I just now travelled to an Empire aligned Aisling Duval control system for good measure.

My Pilot Federation Ranks are Master (Combat), Entrepreneur (Trade), and Pioneer (Exploration). I have no CQC experience whatsoever.

What am I doing wrong?

Well, they no longer say Ascension in them. Just Imperial Navy blah blah. Perhaps you're just missing them?

It also helps to be friendly/allied with the local Empire faction.

Go to Wu Guinagi, land at one of the system's stations, and log in/log out a lot.
- otherwise... I spent months trying to get a naval ascension mission. Plus, as Artigan99 said, it now just says Imperial Navy [something]. The 'something' part doesn't matter. Just look for that Imperial Navy thing. Also, be allied with everyone you can in that system.
- trade systems seem to be the worst places to get these
- data missions seem areas seem to be simi reliable
- long distance trade areas seem to be the most reliable

Bingo! The fact that I was looking for missions labeled as Naval Ascension, with the reward clearly indicating a rank boost, was my problem. These new ones are kinda stealthy.

I had actually started this whole mess in Wu Guinagi, so I came back, found two missions labeled (more or less) as Courier mission for Naval Intelligence ... and that did it. I am now a Viscount. Now that I know what to look for, this will make this whole bit much much easier as these courier runs to Van Royen are part of my 'workflow' anyways. Integrating them seamlessly makes me happy.

Thanks, guys! I'll keep my Imperial Courier parked at in Wu Guinagi for the purpose of doing, well, Imperial Courier missions. As long as the courier runs stick in these two systems, I'll always have something productive to do when I feel like taking this stupidly fast ship for a spin. ;)

is the only way to rank up to take imperial missions, or can you do it by bounty hunting, and cashing them in, in imperial space?
