Question about selling exploration data

Can two or more people sell the same exploration data for the same star system?

Once the first person has sold their data, does it let subsequent people sell their same data? If so, why? Surely once data for a system has been acquired there's no need to pay other people for data already got.

You can do different levels of scanning. For example, if I discover a new system and scan everything with a basic discovery scanner, someone with a detailed surface scanner can earn more money by doing detailed surface scans in the system. As far as I know, you can't re-discover with a basic discovery scanner what has already been discovered. The system will show a different icon in the galaxy map when it has been discovered.

Yea they can. But reward is "first come, first served" - later additions provide much less reward. It's not like our scanners can pick up each and every little detail of places, so... And I bet another logic is - verification of previous data to be correct in the first place, so they don't have to send an assassin after you to reclaim their money ;)
