Ships Question about SLF salary

So, I wonder if the shares "cut" your NPC pilot get from your credits is applied ALWAYS ( you have 2 contracted, lets say each with 10% share) but NOT set as active, or he gets the credits from you ONLY when you set him "active" ?
Because if they get credits even if they are not "active" , but just "contracted" , is a bad business, I mean for each 10 millions profits you loose 2 if you have 2 SLF pilots contracted...

Some of you guys can clarify this for me ?

Thanks in advance...

They always take their cut.

Thinking that they're on standby, ready to fly for you (and for you only) 24/7. Available anytime, anywhere, when you decide to put one on active duty.

Was a time when, like a fool, I have 3 of them contracted - my earnings go down in days, for each 10 millions profits 3 millions were going to those lazy axxx, since they not even were at work, just contracted not "active" ; I fired 1, kept an elite one with 10% ( schooled him from novice !) and a second one, also novice !

Was immediately a huge difference in my profits, from 30% to only 12%... now I fired the second one and I only keep one, true, at 10%, but I can't pay him less, tough... even if I only use him in my Vette, to counter those pesky NPC Cobra and Vulture.

True is, worth the money, I saw her ( is a lady :p ) ripping Condas hull in less than a minute, and is really great to have an Elite NPC with you in hardcore assassination missions - I let her drive my Vette and is invincible, lol, with fixed guns !

Mine cost me 150000 a session. No more, no less.

I hire one when i need a npc pilot.

I then fire them before i cash in any earnings.

Do they still do their job? Yes, to a good enough level for what I am willing to pay.

Whats the real advantage: I can hire any old minter, and god I swear some of them have been run over by tbe yellow trucks in the docking bay, and not have to look at the ugly face for more than one session of play.

I searched years for a decent female face, found her, at the lowest level, trained her to Elite; Going to keep her, nice voice and is damn good at killing. I gladly pay her 10% of my earnings.

The last pilot i had, was female.

I think.

The deep voice and the fact she looked like spongebob squarepants was her father made this quite hard to tell for sure.

I really can't understand why they do not put a decent face. on those NPC.s... a 5yo kid could draw a better face !
Right now, seems the dev in charge with the face design was high on something !

It seems that in 3306 everyone is strung out on meth and Red Bull cocktails, judging by their portraits.

I've played Elite for years, and a couple thousand hours and I've never hired a minion. I'll need to do that one day....

Now that you can 'rescue' your crew in the event of a crash/death etc there is no need to have more than 1 fully trained up. An Elite crew is a monster sniper and for the little they charge if you train them up from scratch well worth it IMO.

If you are worrying about the % they are taking then you are stressing too much about making money as it's silly easy in ED nowadays...

Yup you right, but I was cumbered with 3 of them.... now I only have one. And I will keep this one, is very effective in combat, at Elite rank.... raised from novice, so I only pay him 10% and he is worth the money, tough...

Wait a sec, that does not make sense. You hired him at Novice rank and now he is at Elite rank, and you only pay him 10% share?
You only pay 10% for your Elite crew if you hired them from Harmless rank. For you, you should be paying 12%.
