Question about Station changes

I was reading the FAQ on Odyssey (I haven't purchased yet as I'm relatively new to ED in general and want more time with the existing game first) and I saw this:

Once a player enters a station, they can enter the hangar in order to disembark from their ship. Once this is done, the player can enter the station’s concourse.

Concourses are extensions to space ports and outposts, where players can interact with vendors and meet other players. 12 players will be supported in a single instance, (however this is still under review).

Social Spaces will support the following services:

  • Mission Givers
  • Supplies
  • Apex Interstellar Transport – A shuttle service which transports players to other ports and settlements within 100ly.
  • Frontline Solutions – Sign up to conflict zones
  • Shipyard
  • Sell genetic samples
  • Buy or Sell commodities
Players will also be able to access an on-foot mission board, access authorities to pay off or collect fines and bounties, and edit their loadout.

Are we going to HAVE to enter the concourse to use the shipyard, ship mission givers, etc? Or is it an option? Just thinking this might add a lot of time if I'm forced to get out of my ship just to get new missions.

You can still operate from the cockpit, but the missions are for ship operations only.
Ship outfitting, upgrades, swithing & actions can be done there as with Horizon.

If you want foot-missions though then you have to visit the social spaces.

no, you can still do all the things you could from the ship it's self, but if you want to do the ground missions or buy FPS weapons or suits, you need to get out of your ship

Thanks all! That's perfect... makes sense that the new stuff requires you to get out, glad they kept the existing option for ship functions

And as a Horizons owner, that will be all you get! You will not be able to go to the concourse.

(In game explanation - you haven't paid for your jabs, you don't get to join in the fun!)
