question about the codex, discovery

so I went into deep space, arrived at Phylucs OU-W b3-0, and found 2 interstellar points of interest. ended up being 2 fields of metallic crystals. recorded a video of it since I never found anything like this before and it said I was the 1st to find it. Besides the star, I was the 1st to scan the whole system.
on the codex though, it is not showing up even though I turned all data in and this was a few days ago. anyone know what is going on?

Sure: you weren't the first to find metallic crystals in the region, the Inner Orion Spur. If you check the relevant Codex entries, you'll see that it was "Reported" by someone else sooner, and "Confirmed" by you on the date you used your Composition Scanner on them. Just to check though, did you do that?
If you did, then Codex finds get uploaded immediately, there's no need to sell the data with those.
However, NSPs always contain more than just metallic crystals: keep an eye on your radar, and fly towards clusters of unresolving contacts. Your system's NSP most likely had Albulum gourd molluscs in it.

on my codex it doesnt show the system or that I found or confirmed it. Instead it shows a cloud or something that I found. When i get back on later today I will post what the codex said I found but I dont remember coming across it.

Righto. Did you use the Composition Scanner on the crystals? It sounds like you didn't, but if you did, this would be a bug then. Still, you'll have to look at the Metallic Crystal entries in the Inner Orion Spur to see whether you've Confirmed them or not.

Didnt use the composition scanner, when i went up to them it said what they were so I didnt think I needed to scan them

Technically scanning them is completely optional, but doing so will get those items marked in the Codex as confirmed, and you'll get a voucher that you can cash in for a little money later. If it's something no one has discovered in that region (or a new variant of something), then the Codex will also mark it as your discovery. But for all of those things, you have to use the scanner. Only the clouds themselves are automatic.

The Lagrange Clouds and other diffuse NSP's are an automatic entry into the Codex so you don't need to scan them, just get close enough, anything else, as already mentioned, needs to be scanned with the composition scanner. Keep in mind there are still bugged regions where some scanned items don't appear in the Codex even though you get the confirmation. If you go to https://www.edsm.net/en/codex and search for your discovery there you should find it. While as I said some items don't record in your codex that's only a player issue, I very much think the data and reports reach FDEV.
