Question about the DTX: X setting

I have the Logictech G933 headset and it comes with both DTX:X and Dolby Headphone technologies that I enable through the Logitech software. I noticed that Elite Dangerous has an option for DTS:X. For my headset do I need to enable DTS:X for the game and in the Logitech software, or just use the one in my Logitech software and leave disabled in the game, or disable surround sound in my logitech software and then enable DTS:X in the game?

Turn off software surround, Windows spatial audio and set your headphones playback mode to stereo in Windows audio options then enable the in-game option.

Pretty sure this would put out stereo to the headphones? Or is this DTS:X just a surround emulation via stereo channels?

Yes, DTS Headphone X is basically doing a binaural mixdown. If you set your headphones to surround mode the resulting sound - which is specifically mixed for left and right stereo output - will end up coming from the front/left and front/right virtual speakers and get processed again by the Logitech driver.
