Well, first of all, a short story.
During the expedition Aspect of the Tenebris 3306 one of the fellow-explorers, cmdr. Dasic, near the Skull and Crossbones Nebula suddenly bumped into a surface poi with a broken SRV, some escape pods and a random NPC pirate from the Bubble (from the Kuruages, which is 15 kLys away).
As I was at the same time heading back to the Bubble, we arranged an operation to transfer those poor frozen guys to my Anaconda, so that I could deliver them to the Sagan Research Centre.
However, while still being near the same Skull and Crossbones Nebula, I glided down to a biological signal with bark mounds and suddenly saw a big blue circle on my radar. Just like in good old days of geyser hunting. I landed and checked the signal in my SRV to find another shipwreck and remains of broken SRV.
And here goes the question.
If I'm not mistaking, the Piretes Depot got it's name because of shipwrecks, but since then frontiers changed the mechanics of surface pois spawn and now human-related pois usually spawn near the civilisation. And out of sphere of like 500 Lys around human settlements meeting one is next to impossible.
I've read about an explorer who found such pois in the Rift, but they were due to abandoned settlements. However, the closest known settlement is like 11,2 kLys from here.
One surface poi may be pure luck, but two look more like a rule.
Did frontiers change the mechanics of human-related pois spawning, or am I missing something (like undiscovered abandoned settlements
)?
