Newcomer / Intro Question about the Meta-alloy economy...

Not sure where else to ask this, so I'll put it here.

I regularly make runs to Sol to scavenge for Titan Drive Components. I like V1 SCO FSD's on all my ships and have been stocking up in preparation for the possibility of Vanguards coming with guild banks. along the way, I pick up a lot of Meta-Alloys which I sell from my carrier at just under 1mil each. These things consistently disappear within 12 hours, sometimes 40-50 of them or more. My question is why? Players don't need that many and they aren't exactly hard to get. Two hours and you can have all of them you could ever need scooping yourself. Is there something I don't know about? I thought I may have been getting scalped by other carrier owners, but I've watched the stock a few times and they usually leave in batches of 1-10, not what I would expect from a scalper.

1 or 2 might be for those looking to unlock Felicity.
During the transfer from console I had a stock of Meta-alloy to move Cr between accounts.

All players have a good reason to unlock the Corrosion Resistant Cargo Rack with 16 meta alloys.
They might do this before gathering Titan Drive components, instead of visiting a Titan without a Corrosion Resistant Cargo Rack just to collect meta alloys.
And with a price of one million, you get most of the business.
Thank you for your service.

Well no, not "all players" - all most players need is to remember to buy a 1F corrosion resistant rack (or two) from Palin or Chloe when you unlock and go visit them to pin their recipes.

You can quite happily pick up 2 tonne of TDCs with one of those racks - fit 2 racks for 4 tonne.

Now the Thargoid war has gone, people don't really need 16 tonne capacity for corrosive junk.

then why not buy them all out at once? Like I said, the volumes are low.
That is how you get a lot of them

I don't think you read the opening post. I can load 40+ into my carrier and watch the stock. The stock leaves in small numbers of 1-10 over about 12 hours. If I was being bought out, would it not just jump to 0 the moment some scalper came along as all 40 went out the door?

Surely (looking at their stock levels) those FC owners have filled-up with MAs and have just left their FC raking-in revenue from their outrageous prices (why would someone pay ≈20MCr for a tonne of this anyway?) whilst they get on with playing elsewhere.
