Question about unmanned ship A.I - Problems with Fire at Will Turrets.

I built up a Type 10 covered in turrets with the intent to park it in the middle of a Haz Res and then use a ship launched fighter while my unmanned Type 10 acts like a giant stationary sentry turret. I've hired NPC pilots before but dislike when they take a cut when I go out mining without them. I just wanted my unmanned Type 10 to sit there and have all the turrets set to "Fire at Will" mode.

But when I launch my fighter the unmanned ship has an A.I. that keeps doing dumb things. It changes the pips from how I set them before launching. After one enemy engagement the unmanned ship will retract the hardpoints and won't deploy them again for the next enemy (and I can't issue an attack order as the ship is unmanned).

I can't find any setting to stop it from doing these things.... I literally just want my mother ship to sit there and not change anything. Is this working as intended?
 
NPC crew will still change your pip settings based on what they think is best.

I'm not sure if retracting hardpoints is normal or intended for an unmanned ship as I rarely a fighter equipped ship into combat without crew.
