Zoo Tycoon Question and Complaints

I'm about to write up my review of the game but to be fair I need an answer to a question first, and I can't find the answer elsewhere.

What is the point of allowing me to take photos of my zoo when I can't find or use those images later? I realize this may be a limitation of the screwed up way Microsoft currently has for managing content on the One but still, why add that feature if users can't ever access the pictures? (yes, it is highly frustrating)

Now for the complaints:

1. Why is the limit so low when such large spaces are provided to build zoos? 200 is NOTHING when building a zoo.
2. The shear lack of large animal variety is stunningly disappointing, no gorillas really?
3. What's to point of mini-exhibits? The animals never do anything, they never breed, never do anything, and are boring.
4. Who ever heard of birds and monkeys out in the open, roaming free and wild in a zoo? Seriously, have you people been to a zoo before? Have you owned a bird?
5. Zoo tycoon makes a point of releasing animals back into the wild but this vehicle to promote animal conservative is poorly implemented. Too many endangered animals are missing from the game.
6. All of the creativity is gone. Standard environments mean I build the same zoo over and over again. No more wildly shaped exhibits, no more hills and oddly placed trees. My zoo will look like every other zoo.
7. Marine life is strangely absent from the game. I guess seals, penguins, and walruses etc are irrelevant.

I could go on and on but I shall refrain. I'm not sorry purchased the game but it will be the game I play when I'm exhausted, cranky, or need something mindless after a long day. I can't say my review will be positive.

Yeah, I wouldn't be getting that game because of complains about the ones above. Either I'll have mom not buy me one or I won't. We need larger versions of mini-exhibits for iguanas, macaws, meerkats, mongooses, lemurs, capuchins, peafowls, flamingoes, Komodo dragons, monitor lizards, tortoises, snakes, fossas, binturongs, sloths, and red pandas so that they can breed and we can feed and interact with them and clean up poop in their exhibits.

Surprisingly, the Cincinnati Zoo actually lets Peafowl roam freely through the park. It's possible the same can be true in other zoos. I just felt like pointing it out in case you're wondering.

EDIT: Found some more info if interested.

In France too, I went to a zoo in the west of France and there are small monkeys and vultures roaming free in specific part of the zoo ... ;)
But yes it is strange to see vultures or monkeys so close :D

1. I would say it was down to memory, creating a video game with such high quality graphics most likely an issue.
2.I agree on this point. Need more animals.
3.They're there to boost up the zoo popularity.
4.I agree once again, monkeys should be inside, maybe some inside exhibit areas are needed.
5.Its a game. The release to the wild is to make sure you the user has the ability to remove animals if you wish.
6. Yet again i would say memory is an issue, you can change the colours etc. Space the zoo out use the space .... if you can that is....

7. This is a strange one, so strange that i expect they had some issues with water based exhibits.

I hope that frontier improves on this game, along with DLC and more help from MS.

Peacocks wander free in Whipsnade Zoo, and I remember one of them saw a parked car which was a very similar blue colour to the bird's feathers. Something in that set the Peacock off, and it attacked the car quite violently.

They also had dik diks and other small deer wandering about freely.

I've had an issue where I've either moved or sent off to the wild level 15 animals but they still appear in the Exibit(s). However, they are unable to be picked up or viewed when this happens. This isn't an issue of waiting for the chinook to pick them up. I've also seen exhibits list an incorrect number of animals (X out of 10).

I've seen on more than one occasion a lower level animal get into the chinook helicopter instead of the level 15 guy. If I save my game and reload the zoo the level 15 animals are gone. Sometimes the chinook won't even show up even after 10-15 minutes of real world time. Only have saving/reloading do the animals show up as having left (into the wild).

I'm thinking that the game is mislabeling the levels and/or the wrong animals get sent off.

Annoying but not game breaking since you can save/reload to fix the problem.

I've had the same problem.
I'd release some level 15 animals into the wild, however some of them never got picked up.
I was also not able to view my animals inside the exhibit because there weren't any animals (but there were).
So when you try to sell your exhibit you will get the notification you have still animals in your enclosure.
You can also clearly see the big 'H' in your exhibit meaning the helikopter will fly by, but it won't.
The way to fix this, is to save your zoo. Go back to the main menu and then restart your zoo.

Yes, your level 15 animals will be gone. Because in your new save the helikopter flew by to pick up your animals. Also the only way to lose some not level 15 animals is by trading them in to other zoo's. This can only happen when you click yes on the notifican, go ahead with this option?
