Question: Does the BGS sim affect what is seeded in Stations with outfitting?

My very-difficult-to-test hypothesis is that it's a comination of boom states and buying and selling modules at the station, but to be honest I haven't a scooby how it works.

There is also a hidden variable in the BGS called "tech level" which directly affects ship availability in the shipyard. I recall a patch note from years ago saying that Phekda's tech level was altered to 3 (IIRC) so that there would be at least a couple of ships in the shipyard - previously, it wasn't possible to buy a ship there.

if anyone wonders -
the question is kinda a result of the constant request to seed colonia with A-rated modules,
and my own request to seed pleiades with more outfitting choices.

after the initiative started to repair the pleiades mentioned that they wanted to repair the stations, starting with the refinery.

3.0 has dropped and my home station has updated.

Outfitting improvements, gains and the like have increased.

I still sell 10 ships, but instead of Cobras and Vipers, Saud Kreuger came in and is selling Dolphins, Orcas and Belugas and I now also sell a Federal Dropship and FDL with a Python with the Federal Corvette I am proud of and Sidewinders and Eagles.
General outfitting has also improved, Fuel Scoops now sell the complete Class 8 size, and more extensively down the rest although not completely - it is a noticeable improvement.
Most notably is that the Weapons list seems larger tho far from complete. Very long way to go on any fair outfitting here.

Now its hard for me to correlate which part is helping.

I am in frequent Booms between more Elections than Civil Wars in other systems.
I have suffered no negative states like Bust, Civil Unrest or Lockdown.

But I also have added millions in Exploration personally to the system - plus whatever other stray people have been doing.

So which part is doing it? I don't know. But it is improving.
Unfortunately, not on a BGS tic or anything, its with the game patch for major updates.

I do not believe its the states, as a secondary system I tend to not drop exploration data at did not improve nearly as much as another secondary system I have dropped data at did.
Lacking any real tracking proof of it however, so gotta take my word for it.

Outfitting is affected by states, but shipyard is affected by who rules.

AEDC intentionally took Ross 490 before the patch to provide access to the Alliance Chieftain and T-10 Defender in the area not too far from Sol and starter systems.

It worked too. Yesterday was mighty busy at Dunyach! Was great seeing ships enter, then fresh Chieftains appearing :D

I asked this question to Dav in the first BGS livestream. His answer was "yes - as the BGS waxes and wanes, module availability will change."

Which is basically a non-answer.

We know that states change outfitting.

What we look for (at AEDC) are long term improvements to stations. Plus visibility of hidden data, like development level or wealth.

It is a bit disappointing that FD still hangs onto their Black Box information strategy. Instead of opening up new ways to play what is already there.

Over time we looked into a lot of things at AEDC and our basic deduction is: you can change influence and states. Ruling and non nonruling. And that is it.

No change is possible of:
- outfitting
- population
- development level
- security level
- Demand / Supply equilibrium levels of commodities
- price levels of commodities
- production levels of commodities

If it was, it is very long term, opaque, and gets washed away and made untrackeabl by changes in general through patches etc.

If it is possible, it should be easily testable in a low dev level station with outfitting. But since there are no results to be had, it is hard to have ppl run after such an experiment that does not offer positive results.

BTW: we at AEDC ard absolutely for the ability to manipulate as many variables in our system as possible. Having our minor factions turn into a garden. Currently there is nothing to do once you rule stations and systems.

Currently there is nothing to do once you rule stations and systems.

There's always something to do regarding the BGS. Even in controlled Systems.

And we are the Gardeners of our respective MF. Nothing will be accomplished unless we do it ourselves and keep pushing to make our vision become a reality.
